Allen, It's been 10 years since I've been clamming for horse necks at Hog island.  So count me in, do you have a sand bar in mind?

They sell it at lawsons landing, at the store there for 30+ bucks.  I don't think you can buy anything in that big size at home depot.  Its like 12" by 4 feet long, if i remember.

After hauling the big PVC pipe out there many times. I found out a new trick digging for the clams. You really don't need the tube! With the tubes you still must dig a good size hole then place it in. Then have to dig the sand inside out the small space. I found out a new trick is to dig next to the clam. Make a good size hole about 1 to 2ft. Wide n deep.  Careful not to knock over the clam til done.  Once done put ur shovel on opposite side of the hole and knock everything onto your hole. The clam will be expose for a moment.  Reach in and grab the sucker! Sometimes the sand covers them,  just reach in and feel around. I always get my limit using this method. Saves you $30 and hauling the big tube around.

Good luck and have fun!

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
