This event will be at Edgewater Resort

Unfortunatley the State Park has been Flooded and even if the water subsides by than the mud will still be an issue. If you were planning on fishing that area it is still just a short paddle/peddle to that area but in all fairness we need to have all anglers launch at the same spot.
I know the cost of day use is a little steep ($10 P.P.) but without inspections or launch fee this is still reasonable. Also if you are camping they will include day use for Sun. and they will let us use the swim beach as a launch site and give us the gathering (BBQ) area for free as well as let us check out by 4pm. Their insurance mandates that they have a staff member on duty prior to opening for day use so she asked if those comming up for the day plan on not getting there till 6:30 am.
I know we are used to a little more freedom but with limited time this is still the best option and I look forward to seeing you all there on Sunday.

Thanks again for your understanding,
Eric / Yakhopper

P.S.
Be sure to tell them you are with the Kayak Group when you make reservations

Eric, is this the extent of the discount or are they taking a little off the top of the cost of camping?  Just curious if I need to go back and have them readjust my bill.  Thanks again!

Sorry,
No discount for individuals just what was mentioned above.
I still feel this is fair as we will be semi secluded and will have private beach launching along with the NO INSPECTION FEE or hassle.

See Ya There,

I don't believe there is mussel inspection for kayaks anywhere you launch from at Clear Lake. That determination was made last year.

Just keeping every body up to date.
Got a email from the folks at Edgewater and wanted to pass it on so we have no problems.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Eric,

It was a pleasure speaking to you today about your on-line kayaking club's event at the Edgewater Resort on the weekend of April 8-10, 2011.

As stated we have already been receiving individual reservations for the weekend.  Following are the points that we covered during our conversation today:

1. The event will take place on Sunday, April 10th with your fishing tournament starting at 7:00AM until 1:00PM, when you will have a BBQ for the anglers which will end no later than 4:00PM.

2.  On Sunday, April 10th we will open our office at 6:30 AM, for day use members arriving no earlier than 6:30AM.  The Day Use fees are $10 per person.  When they check in at the registration office (on the beach) we will assign them a parking area and issue them a restroom/shower key for a $5.00 refundable cash deposit which will be returned to them upon check out by 4:00PM.

3. For folks staying overnight in RV's, tent camping sites or cabins on Friday and/or Saturday nights we will give them complimentary day use on Sunday,  to stay in the park for the event and BBQ until 4:00PM.  Our regular check-out time is 12:00 Noon.

4.  We will reserve the group BBQ area for you.  This big BBQ takes 50# of charcoal to start and needs an hour for the charcoal to be ready to cook and not burn!  So, as you mentioned, you may want to just bring your smaller portable BBQ! Please let us know if you wish to use our big BBQ so that we can put the grill top on it for you.

5.  You will be able to launch your kayaks off of the beach area.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call anytime.  Thank you for choosing the Edgewater Resort for your special event.

Edgewater is at the top/middle of the photo along the shoreline.
Even with the glare from my seat, you can see that the state park water is still more stained ,from kelseycreek, than the water in soda bay.

Something else that may be of interest to those competing in the tourney is that Ive recently caught a few fish that I believe are post spawn. odd

Terry, out of sheer curiosity, what characteristics tell you they are post spawn?  Size of bellies, but if so, how do you identify gender?  Or is it location or depths fish are being caught.

BTW, this is not me questioning your knowledge, but rather for my own personal edification.

Thank you so much for all the info you've provided us and the huge help you've been.

FWIW, I miss the aerials. :smt002

Yeah, last year we fished this area late Saturday afternoon.  Caught a couple fish there but didn't do nearly as well there as we did fishing State Park.  I remember LOTS of docks but couldn't find much underwater structure.
