Are you prepared?

If the big one hits, I'm ready and packed and heading straight to Crystal Springs Reservior and setting up camp there 

Dont forget the water purifier. I keep one in a kit in the truck, with heavy boots, sleeping bag, tent, heavy gloves, crowbar, hammer,heavy bib coveralls, stove/propane, rope. I also have a respirator behind the seat in case of a 9/11 kind of dust cloud., first aid kit with instant ice pacs. .22 rounds are cheap and you can fit about 5,000 of them in one box and still have room for a few big uns.
Frank is a big chief in his regional first responders network, actively trains and gets folks involved, the idea is that as soon as you get you and your family safe, start helping everyone, good chance that it could get bad and people will need help, thats what the crowbar/hammer/gloves are for, digging people out of rubble.

one that is crucial is a family plan-- where are you going to meet in what timeframe?  we've got a bunch of decrepit little bridges between home, work, and my daughter's school- so we've got three places-- soon, sooner, and soonest.
All the camping gear is packed in a single gi-normous duffle in a safe place, easily accessible in event the house falls down.

I live in out here in the valley.  the last big earthquake that hit SF in 1989 barely registered over here yonder.

My mortgage lender didnt even ask me to get earthquake insurance, even though my friend in livermore with the same lender had to buy it.

On the shooting forums this was always a favorite topic, (invariably referred to as a "SHTF Scenario", (major eathquake, extended race riots, revolution, zombie attack, etc).  One guy claimed to have four identical vans parked in various parts of his city, all outfitted with survival gear.

My question was always, where you gonna go???? 

Most would say .22 shells will be used as currency.  I say a better investment would be tampons.

Tampons good idea, Don't forget mydol, we don't wanna have to deal with zombies and emotional women too

I love these post where you guys are supposed to be serious and yet I get to laugh several times along the way. Well if the big one hits in the winter time I have lots of flat ground for tents. If summer I have to worry about fires I"m in a oak forest. So I'll come runnin to you guys
