Just a question I asked myself as I sat back and enjoyed the last little shaker. Water would probably be the best investment right now, then beer.. Seriously let's think about it! Hayward fault one of the if not most deadly faults in the world! What are you gonna do to prepare?????

My firearms are actually ahead of the small list of necessities I've listed...I also invested in one of those wind up flashlight/radio gizmos..

those radios are great, good call on that!

Where do people store all this stuff, out side in a shed?

in the house? Just thinking if it was ever really bad, in the house may not be the best. Or maybe several locations...

Your right about that Andy, thats a nasty fault..

Ya all my stuff is in the house. It would be a good idea to have a small stock of supplies in another location. I have actually thought about doing a buried cache in the backyard or something. I know it will work,  I buried a 5 gal. bucket full of survival supplys up in the mountains where we hunt, never have had any problems with damage

Once you have your food/water and other supplies, store it is a safe place (out building, shed or your house) modern wood frame structures with perimeter foundations do better than masonary or brick or even older style wood frame(balloon) with post and pier foundations.

Then you need to maintain your stash and not rob stuff out of it. Change your water 6 months to a year and check your food/battery dates.

Think about medication needs, pet food, cash for the brewskis (atm and stores credit systems are not reliable)

Have a gas shut off wrench near your meter and know where the water and electrical shut offs are located. Turn your utilities off if you are at all worried about the condition of them, have them inspected if you dont know what to look for.

Be ready to go 36 to 48 hours or longer.

This is the way of life here in Cali. and if just one of you does half of the stuff on this post them we are doing our job. :smt003

How about fire extinguishers? I know people who have quake kits but don't even have a fire extinguisher in their house.
. . . . . In fact, the ONE in my apt is probably dead.   :smt012
