I got at least 20 on it. Reserve it Al, then we get our own private ampitheater too...who plays guitar?

I play guitar but to bad I'm going to miss this one.  I sing too but you don't really want me to.  Love playing eagles, beatles, creedence type of music.  I'll be down in Ventura this weekend to visit my daughter but I might drop by on the way back if anyone is still there by then.

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been very busy since I got back on my mini-vacation. Andy, I got your voicemail, I'm sincerely sorry that I haven't called back. I've been MIA so that I can get shit done before this weekend's FnC. FYI, I miss you brother!! :D

Anyways, I shall be arriving Friday night but will have to leave that evening so that I can go back to work Sunday. I may bring a friend along :) Either way, I will also bring fire wood, drinks, and some grub TBD.

Ok, back to work for me!!  :smt012

Great news!  :smt003  We *WILL* have the group campsite (B) for this Friday and Saturday!!!  :smt041   Because I lagged on getting it reserved yesterday online, I had to beg and plead with the Rangers office to let us in  :smt004

So, we should be good to go!  The group site should be opened for us sometime around 2-3PM tomorrow.  I'll have to work directly with the camp host to pay the fees and get the gates unlocked but all should work out well  :smt002

IF for some reason you get there and the Group Site gate is still locked, head over to the main boat ramp area and hang out for a bit.  Or even better, hit the water and catch some fish :smt003

Whomever is planning on meeting up on Friday in the afternoon, feel free to PM me for my phone number, so we can coordinate!

SOOOOOooooo Looking forward to hanging with the NCKA crew this weekend!!!  :smt007

Regarding fees for the campground and day use:

If your only coming for the day on Saturday or Sunday, DO NOT PAY at the ranger station!  Instead, drive directly to the Group Camp B and park there.  If you do see a ranger just tell them your with the group campsite and they should let you through.

Camping for either night; your cost is 20$ per night (1/2 regular campsite price!)
Day use/single day people;  your cost is 8$, or one bundle of firewood  :smt003 (Normally 10$)

Hope that works for everyone!  :smt006

That's awesome that you got the group site Al  :smt045 It's THE BEST group site I've been to so far! I'll be cooking a "special Filipino Fear Factor dish" called "Taba nang Talangka". I'm also bringing chips with my special home-made salsa and some Filipino Empanada.

Are dog's allowed? I may have bring Killer Kylo cause I have no sitter for him this weekend.....

Sure, dogs should be fine!  All they say on the website is: "Dogs must remain on a leash and under immediate control of its owner at all times."

Tiny, take 101 to 152E. After you pass San Luis Res & the dam, turn left across 152 towards San Luis Creek Campground. I think there's a sign. Go through the kiosk & continue straight past the turn to the ramp and you'll see the group camp on the right.   ;~)

Here is a link to Google for directions from San Jose.    http://tinyurl.com/49pdfp5

Note, if you have never been there before, there is the San Luis Reservoir, and then there is the 'forebay'  :smt044

The Forebay is AFTER the *huge* reservoir.  Once you pass Dinasour Point you will be getting close to the Forebay and soon start going down hill.  Basically at the very bottom of that hill is a bridge, and before the bridge is the turn off to the Forebay campground.

Looks like I'm going to be able to make it Sunday.  Myself and Jeff/Barefoot1 will be arriving early for a full day's fishing as Jeff goes in the next day for shoulder surgery so he wants to go out with a bang.

Thanks for the directions gentlemen.  Never been there before so they will definitely help.

While i've kept up with the reports from the forebay over the last couple months, is there anything fishing wise that I should bring?  I've got flukes, a couple lucky craft lures in white and plan on bringing some minnows.  Also Al, any specifics on the rapalas?

Looking forward to this guys!

Well for me the X-Rap 8 or 10 in white has been my goto for striper lures but also the Shadrap in Shad did great last time I was there.  Water is pretty dirty, all the time, so I think its best to have something that puts out a bit of vibration.

I've seen and heard that flukes will kill there, but i've never fished one before so not sure how to set it up.  Would love to see how you rig yours up Michael!  If you do hit the water EARLY in the morning, you can get quite a bit of topwater action if you find the stripers.  They seem to be all over the shallows on the 152 side of the lake in the very early mornings.  Basically if you see a group of boats working fish, head there quick!

Live bait is almost always a good choice there as well.  Coyote Bait in SJ off 101 and Bailey is the best place if your coming from the north to get minnows.  If from the south, there is a place off I5 that sells them, very easy to get to, but usually $$$. To get there just drive past the Forebay and make a left on I5 and the first place that looks like a liquor store on the left is the spot.  They have wood too!  :smt003
