Looking for rod suggestions to pair up with the Abu Ambassadeur 6501 C3 I found under the tree.  It'll be for my striper (and eventually salmon) hunting adventures...

Sky is not the limit - I thought mickfish nailed to neighborhood I live in - $100ish is fine, I would spend $150 if there was a compelling reason to -

If you want a carbon rod, I love my Okuma Guide Select ~$100 -120, comes in various configurations with a lifetime warranty.

If you want some fiberglass involved the Baidarka has been good to me (and it floats), but some have had issues with the guides(??)

It's also hard to beat an Ugly Stick for outright durable value.

The reason I suggested the Trevala was it's a great trolling rod because of the slow action you could even tow a 2lb ball with it, I would not try that with the Okumas and an Ugly stick that could would be pretty heavy. Western Sport Shop $99-20% not a bad deal they have some Okumas also

Berkley IM8 A92-8-6MH or A92-8-6H are great salmon rods at a good price point. They have a very good over the counter warranty. Specs: http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/rods-combos/rods/air-im8

$76 bucks here. http://www.sportco.com/productcart/pc/Berkley-Air-Im8-Salmon-Steelhead-Casting-Rod-8-6-Mh-10-20lb-172p51006.htm

They changed all the guides on the Baidarka to SS. Mike picked one of the TVC's for me great deal lifetime warranty. Under a bill and you will love the way it feels. For the price. Very Nice

Loks like this is a left-hand Abu?

Be sure to pair it with a left-hand casting rod.

Here's my dilemma, while I do prefer a left hand retrieve, I still paddle a right-handed (goofy-footed) kayak, so is it your suggestion I pair the rod with the reel, or the rig with the yak?  :smt044

Heading over to Western Sport in about an hour...

Hmmmm...that COULD be a problem.  My best thought, as a kayak fishing professional, is to get out during the winter, with at least an 8' swell, and practice your Yak fakies.
