I always catch the GMS thread late because I don't usually check the event forum. I just called the Tides and they are full. I'm bringing the wife for the first time so we will get a room at the Inn of the lost coast. I don't think I'm going to enter the competition this year. I will probably concentrate on diving. Hopefully the conditions willl be more like 09 instead of 10. My wife is a good cook and we will be making a major contribution to the meals this year. I have a new ab recipe that is extremely good and will be cooking up some of that also.

REMEMBER TO MAKE A CHECK LIST!!!!!!!! You will forget gear if you don't make a checklist.

No - opening day is Saturday, May 14th, and that's tournament day.

The Tides Inn is full. There are still vacancies at The Inn of the Lost Coast. My wife and I will be staying there.

Regarding the campground situation, Jack (the owner) is out of the country, so I won't be able to meet with him until mid February.

Go ahead and reserve campsites.  I'll work out any special details with Jack later.  By that I mean I'll work out any special policies he wants enacted, and we hope he'll extend annual courtesies such as some free firewood, a block of sites to party in, and a dedicated gear washing area (as opposed to the bathrooms and bathroom area - Jack's suggestion).  I do not intend to negotiate any special pricing.  The campground isn't cheap.  As stated earlier in the thread, following the campground rules and paying all applicable fees is an important part of tournament participation.  I will be working closely with Jack to ensure that he is happy with our group and the event.  Cooperation much appreciated.   :smt001
