Anyone going out of Trinidad the next two weeks for crabs? I have some time off and if the weather is good for a couple of days I would love to come over 299. Can you have two limits in car (one from one day and the other following or is it in possession? :smt006

Hi DrDave,

I am up for some crabbing - anytime after the 24th.  Let me know!

As for limits/sizes, take a look at page 56 2010-2011 sport ocean regulations

29.85(a) 3 - Limit: Ten, except in Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties when fishing aboard a commercial passenger fishing vessel required to be licensed pursuant to Section 7881 and /or Section 7920, Fish and Game code, the limit is six

29.85(a)7 - minimum size 5 3/4", except in Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties  when fishing aboard a commercial passenger fishing vessel required to be licensed pursuant to Section 7881 and /or Section 7920, Fish and Game code, minimum size is 6"

I think its per day possession basis day 1 10, day 2 10 total 20 in the car, if you camp out just make sure you have proof of the day you started, I've seen people in Park/Camp at HMB cooking and saving the catch each day..but then again I am not a lawyer, our lawyer or rules expert bros might be able to elaborate further..

We hit it today, limits, but had to work a little harder for the commercial size that we are looking for. Lots more females in the rings. As usual the rings were fun but the real workhorse was a square Danielson with chicken. 16 with a 2 hour soak. Pretty much had the bay to ourselves for the late morning/early afternoon, but the boat traffic started picking up as we were heading in. Anyway as this is a hookup post, post your days when you get closer and we will try it.

Sounds great! thanks for the intel and info. Great to hear you can still get the crab. I am keeping an eye on the weather to be sure I can get over 299 and back. What's the best way to check the ocean conditions for that area? Many thanks, David

I’d be in to hitting Trinidad at any time ! ..... I’m a relative newbie but have been out with Cajun and have met a few others from this board and have been impressed with people’s willingness to share information.

Looks like there may be better weather Thursday/Friday. What do you think?

I may try and get some crab on Sun or Mon.  See what happens with the water.
