Thanks for the link...

Im not sure how to react yet. First thought is; Instead of turning delta pumps off... they are going to toss more water at it. Makes sense or does it? Wonder if more water sources are on the plate for dealing with the delta issue.

Thanks for the info Jeff. This would be a crappy situation to lose the fishery of Melones. Once they empty the lake, it won't fill back up that fast.

I don't think the intentions are to ever fill it back up.

The effects of this would be devastating.

This sounds like political maneuvering more than anything else. I doubt this plan will come to fruition. But, even if it did, they would only draw down the lake (aka release more water from the dam) for a fifth of the year...I assume during winter when steelhead are running up the Stanislaus and/or when they need to meet minimum flow requirements during summer. But yeah, I'm definitely opposed to draining that lake.

The delta is like a gushing wound....I think the first logical order of action would be to stop the damn bleeding, not look for an I.V.  :smt009

How absolutely stupid, I hope the lawsuit is succesful....or at least ties up the water theft in court long enough for a real recovery plan, one that involves reduced water diversion, to be implemented.
