Porky had a rough start. After jim safely tucked his. I phone inside my t13, launched into a some shore slap, scuppers got plugged and my boat looked like it might sink, then i noticed the massive flood of water entering my hatch, i had forgot to close the hatch down and took on a lot of water. Decided to paddle across the cove anyway. Beached it cause it was big inside the cove and the yak was flooded. Then went diving, swam out, and thought dam my hands were cold. Forgot to put my gloves on in the excitement. Back to shore, then back out again. Saw a grassie, but the surge moved me a good 6-7 feet off it, gone. Last few hours i spent with a leaky new mask. Beautiful viz. Rough though. No fish for me. Cant wait for a calm day. Most all my rookie dive trips have been in pretty rough waters with serious surge. Good training i guess.

Went home napped and water drraining from my nose all day, must have snorted up when my mask would leak. Still a killer day and a beautiful fish Jim. You earned that one dude in less then favorable conditions.

We had the entire sws cove to ourselves, not another life form around other then the nasty ass dead seal at the stair case.

Thanks for coming out with me Jim.

Great job, Jim!  You're mastering it, and it's fun to watch and share in your success and joy through your reports.  That's a nice ling - ties my personal best speared fish at 16 pounds.  Cool that you found some abs tucked away down in otter territory.  The way you waited and searched for your ling is very similar to how you will get your first 10 incher - persistence, passing up other opportunities, being in the right place, well equipped, at the right time.  Keep it up, Dude - you're kicking ass!   :smt001

strong showing again Jim

Thought about going today, but everyone has gone to the dark side, hardly any fishermen anymore.. :smt009

Nice Ling

Way to give it a run Porky, I guess this rough start late in the season will bring dividends when it smooths out.

Dude those WAF points are VALUABLE and if you could measure them in inches I am sure you would have beat me!!
 :smt002 :smt005 :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Here are some pics of the cooking...we did Blackened steaks of half of the filets and vacuumed sealed and froze the other half for when my parents come in Thanksgiving.

We boiled the head and all the rest of the carcass with some onions and bell peppers and then picked off ALL the meat to add into a soup. We made the soup base out of coconut milk and added yucca, platanos, chayote, carrots, onions, peppers and tomatoes!!!

SO GOOD!!!!  :smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007

Washed it down with some Halloween 2007 Armida Poizin!!

Didn't waste one ounce of meat off that whole fish!!
