Here is my virgin poke pole from a modified collapsible Wonder Pole.  A tennis ball end for use as a walking stick and an old car antenna replacement of the business end.  A loop of nylon leader with a thick hook.

Yeah, when I was a kid we just used whatever we had, usually coathangers.
EWB, those poles are fancy looking!

Joel has a problem with wire loops though. His versions are "loopless" to reduce snagging on rocks.

Good call, I gotta upgrade to a tennis ball or crutch/chair leg tip! I got some spots down here where we can do it, but I'll probably hold off til after Nov 15th.

As far as Hookups go, PM the guys who are experienced.

I'm not.   :smt009

I got a PM with some location ideas.  Since this is public, I'm sure some folks want to keep specifics on the QT.  As Kirk says in his great video, it's no longer a secret.

Here is another photo of a new poke pole.  Dan found the 20-foot long "Exploro Measuring Pole" at Drew's Used Tools in Santa Cruz and we fashioned the tip scavenged from a wire tomato trellis.

I'm going on Friday to Pigeon Pt., I should be there around 1:30ish. I'm going to fish the North side of the lighthouse maybe even go north of the beach at the end of the road. Good luck to all...
