Never been, but always wanted to poke pole.  I have seen others up and steep ravine, Marine Headlands.  Looks like fun.  I would like to go with.  Can you elaborate on the sets up?

OK here they are. Didn't snap a full size pic. They are about 12-14 feet long. Hamachijohn had 4 pieces of bamboo but may be able to get some more. I used used some galvanized concrete reinforcement wire made a loop added a heavy duty snap swivel and then lashed it down with some masons line (like a hook on a gaff) coated the wrap in spar varnish and then soldered the wire into a solid unit. Should do the trick. HAPPY POKING!

Eric, if the snap swivel ever fails, how do you get another on? With rings?

yeah or reverse it and snap it on....fingers crossed that doesn't happen. the swivel was a nice bonus. It would work just fine tired to the loop directly.
