Hopefully with clearer rules and details

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=79

I have grandfathered in all fish caught in 2006 but I need a picture that clearly shows the length of the fish against a measuring device, remember inches count!  :smt003

I should have the software to manage all this online by the end of the week for the time being post here to enter your catch. Remeber a picture of the fish with a measuring device.

Oh and Sean White of Great White Kayak Company is providing a stick on ruler for all those that enter! Thanks again Sean!

Thanks Bill...

One last comment (sorry I didn't mention it earlier)... with the difficulty of measuring a sturgeon for release... how about accepting a witness who is also in the tournament instead of a photo against a measuring device.

You really can't get an entire sturgeon with the entire measuring tape into the frame of a photo anyway... at least not to the point where it would be useful.

If it's a problem doing this with all species, you might consider making this exception only apply to sturgeon, since most other fish can be measured, photographed, and released without too much of an issue.

Just a shameless attempt to try to get my sturgeon grandfathered into the pool  :smt002

Seriously though... it's really a matter of practicality and encouraging catch and release for those who wish to do so.

Damn Sturgeon fishermen always making things difficult!  :smt003

For Sturgeon we could have a photo of the fish against an object of known size and witnessed by another person in the pool. Anyone have any objections to that?

I am just trying to avoid any controversy.  :smt004

How about...

"For sturgeon, in the absence of a photo of the fish against a measuring device, a photo of the fish against an object of known size along with measurement that is witnessed and verified by another person in the pool will suffice."

Sorry to be so pesky... also trying to avoid controversy.

Bill,
Will your Software have all participants along with their scores?  That would be great to see everyone who is in the pool, along with what their cumulative point totals, species taken, etc.

PS, I’m all paid up.  Just need to get out on the H2O.
Stu

Ok I ammended Rule #2 and added your sentence.

Stu, here is a sneak peak at what I am working on. It still needs a lot of work but you get the general idea. Picture user names next to the Top LingCod listings. There will be Top 10 (maybe 5) listing for all species. I will also add the ability to look at al of a users entries.

May I ask why the FW species are worth the most points?

Nevermind...just realized that it's points per inch. So I'm assuming since those fish tend to be smaller they're worth more PPI.

I see no reason to exclude South Central. It's rich with many of the target species and the favorite place for many of us.

Bill I'm not trying to be a pain but I need a clarification of this rule.It states that fish larger than the legal limit don't count. I'm assuming that in a C&R only area you can't enter any  fish caught because there is no limit so any fish caught would be bigger than the legal limit.

Planing a trip to fish steelies in a river where you can't keep any. I'm all for those fish not being handled and released as soon as possible just want it to be clear.
