Couldn't find a reservation anywhere, so we decided to head up to Mendo and take a first come first serve boat in site for the weekend.  Get the yaks all loaded up with gear and  arrive to find that not only can we take our pick of spots, but that we had the entire Deer Camp group site all to our selfs  :smt007  Not a single other person staying there!  :smt004  We were right on the water, with a great view, and barely a soul to bother us.

There were a ton of people on the lake though so it was pretty croweded OTW.  There were also a fair number of kayakers out there, but none that seemed to be fishing at all.
We got fishing a bunch, but really were only able to find some baby bass and bluegill.  That was a bunch of fun for Sara though, since she got to catch many fish, her first ever bass and bluegill  :smt003

We also did a little night fishing, which was pretty awesome to be out on the water watching the light slip silently away until it was dark out, no moon, and some of the best star gazing I've ever experienced!  Just before the last of the twilight was gone, we watched the many bats swooping down on insects, even at one point flying right between us while we were chatting.

All in all, it was one of the most relaxing weekends i've had in a long time!  And I got to spend it all with my sweet girl, Sara  :smt008

PICS!   :smt004

One more thing, while fishing from the shore I got a snag and decided to go retrieve my lure the next day and take a swim to get it.  While feeling around under water, I felt something oddly slimy, and pulled it out to take a look.  Guessing its fish eggs, but not really sure.  Anyone know what it is???

SWEEEEET!
That's some surprise considering how we all figured it would be jammed with people up there. Sometimes it works out though, you just have to go for it with the right attitude, You did & were REWARDED!

But no catfishing?

Good stuff, wishin I was there too!
I brought home some slimy gunk that looked exactly like that from Coyote lake about 5 years ago. Turned out to be waterdogs and they hatched, so I released them into my pond. Not sure if they're still in there or not, but it was really cool to see them. Carrie named one of them Flimflam!
