I was bored at work and came across pics of this Trident Ultra 4.7 on Austin Kayaks Facebook page. Looks to be quite a battleship, would hate to drag that down to the beach but I'm sure it has it's applications. Dont know if I like the hinged rod pod though.

Call me ignorant, but why wouldn't they sell this boat here?  Don't tell me that they did all their marketing research and found that Americans wouldn't purchase them.  Is it the expense?  If so, why would they be more here?

I obviously haven't thought this through, so please don't flame me.  I'm just wondering out loud - which is obviously dangerous.

Very interesting. I'm probably within a year or two of replacing my P15 and the current Trident models don't really appeal to me. It's tough to tell from the pictures, but perhaps they have finally made something that is like a P15 with a burly rod pod (my dream yak).
Here's to hoping!  :beer2

Edit:
Found the info sheet on a google search: http://www.oceankayak.com/pdfs/OK_Trident_Ultra4.7_sellsheet.pdf
It appears that isn't a rod pod. :(

May not have long to wait! Called a Sacramento dealer last week from craigslist add regarding the one $850 used trident 15.  It was gone of course but he said I may want to wait anyway because Ocean Kayak was coming out with with a new angler with cool changes in three weeks.
