I originally wanted to go up to Shelter Cove for this weekend, but the weather reports don't look good as of now.  small craft advisory all weekend :smt013 :smt013.  and it looks like a lot of the north coast will be windy sooo.....i was thinking about Big Sur. Here's the forecast for the weekend from noaa:
Sat...NW winds 5 to 15 kt. Wind waves 1 to 3 ft. NW swell 5 to 7 ft. Patchy fog.

Independence Day...S winds 10 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less. NW swell 3 to 5 ft and S 3 ft. Patchy fog.

Mon...SW winds 5 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less. NW swell 3 to 5 ft and S 3 ft. Patchy fog. :smt004

New plan is to find a camp spot at Kirk Creek and explore from there.  I'll be arriving Saturday and leaving Tuesday.  Company welcome.

Make sure you have a backup plan for camping and launching. Because there's about 1% chance you actually get a spot @ Kirk Ck if you arrive Sat. Plan to check the other campgrounds for sites if Kirk is full: Plaskett Ck to the south and Nacimiento & Ponderosa up Furgeson Rd. The marine forecast doesn't look too good but Mill s/b launchable.  Good luck!

PK just told me that Limekiln is opening this weekend so there is another campground and launch site. Given the WX, I agree with PK that Mill is probably the safest launch. Willow will probably have lot's of surfers and Limekiln has the nasty shorebreak and "large" rangers who love NCKA.  :smt005 Good luck!!!
