It would be very difficult to go an entire day without hearing news about the victory.

As for the refs, Brazil committed an obvious hand foul on one of its goals against the Ivory Coast, but no call was made. Makes me wonder sometimes if there is a plot against the USA...or just bad officiating.

And those vuvuzelas...don't understand why anyone would want to be blowing on one of those things for the entire game.

That. Was. AWESOME!

And yeah, US won the group with Jolly Ol England second. Now we just need Germany to beat Ghana tomorrow and we'll face Ghana next round...while England draws Germany lol!

Yep, USA tops the group. To be honest I'd rather England played Germany; we usually play better against the "big" teams. Plus we owe them one. Mind you so does the US team after 2002.

I think most countries think there's a plot against them. The US got thru despite being unlucky with the calls; they're due some luck in that department now (which they didn't get in 2002!).

Bafana Bafana!!!!!....yeah I know SA is out, but beating those 8th ranked French cheese eatin surrender monkeys was GREAT (we were ranked 83rd after all). Mexico/SA was a 1-1 draw and that was also a treat. Watching that game at 7am in a predominantly Mexican bar was an experience, especially seeing the ref seemed to be on SA's side and disallowed a goal that was good ( yes you heard it here, Mex shoulda won it 2-1)
as for the vuvuzelas....Afrikan kultcha, my broe...

England and USA drew 1-1. It was a gift from Engand's 'keeper. He did not play the last two games.

Can't wait until Saturday!!!  Too bad I have to listen to it on the radio since I'll be working, but at least I get to listen.

As for the vuvuzelas, and this is no knock on Howard or anybody else, but it seems like those that most despise them are casual soccer fans.  People that have played and/or followed the sport with some regularity have heard them before, most likely during World Cup qualifying, because many South American countries also blow them.  Not to mention, if you followed the Confederations Cup last year, it too was held in Africa, and you may have been desensitized then.

Good for the US......but it would really be a major jolt to the world of football if they can beat Brazil  :smt002

IMO: you don't really have to win the world cup....you just need to beat Brazil :smt002
