looks like this aint gonna happen.....not enough commited cookers to do it.

Just throwing out ideas to drum up interest.  I'll be there regardless of the format...  if enough fellow NCKA'ers step up to make it happen.

we dont need a single winner, just more than 10 commited cookers. We have 10 now, but i think 5 more would be the right call. More cookers = more diversity.

Beach/ coastal spots are a tough call....most dont have enough parking / wx are impossible to dial in for a date in the far future.

a park along the bayshore with free everything is what would attract "Family Participation"

a line up of main foods, with the good ol' sides form others not doing on-site cooking.

a way to get together for a day and chill, fish in u want to, get others(non NCKA) there who want to EAT FOOD THEY WILL LOVE & MAY NEVER SEE AGAIN!!!!

that's all....... :smt002

Yeah Adam, let's get it on!!! Best thing you can make. No other rules, total anarchy massive food consumption.  That is what NCKA is all about.:smt005 How about Ft Ross, Ocean Cove, MBK, HMB, Bean Hollow, Pescadero, Del Valle, Mendo, Lake Sonoma. Late october and November can be pretty sweet at DV.

Can't say I'll cook until a date is firmed up. Too many commitments in Sept / Oct. Was thinking I didn't have anything worth of a Throw Down, But I just remembered I have an award winning chowder recipe from The Fisherman's Grotto in Monterey
A public park and "family participation" were mentioned. Not to put a damper on things, but we should be careful about crossing the line between a private and a public event, cause then we could be talking permits and the Health Department. Don't want some city official coming by at the last minute and saying Stop!

My wife came up with a great idea yesterday after yet-another kayak beach BBQ = We should make a NCKA Cookbook w/proceeds going to the Mooch fund!
This seems like a good place to mention it, but I don't want to sidetrackhijack Adam's awesome idea, so I'll start another thread for it...but I had to write/type it down before I forgot it...I'm getting old, have to write everything down now lol.

Pat

Karen and I were thinking along the same lines. Each author would submit their favorite fish with top secret fishing tips and recipe. Recruit all the OG to give up the secrets and charge a fee to buy in. All procedes go to Joel. A win win in my book.

As far as location, we can always rent the group campsite at Half Moon Bay State Beach (very grassy area with lots of shade) - it seems like a nice central location OR we can always talk to out good buddies at Half Moon Bay Kayak Company and see if we can use their lot.

Just my thoughts...
