Wow - thx, Guys!!!  You guys are the best.  

It was a busy day.  After playing a little hooky yesterday for half a day and fishing out at the Cape for the worst bite ever and wind that had me working (had a blast out there), I got up early today and hit Humboldt Bay with Chris/MBYakker.  We paddled out the Jaws into a messy and steep ocean.  Birds were working all over and bait was filling most of the finder more often than not.  I guess my chovie was having a hard time competing with the 10,000,000 live ones right under me, so I didn't catch a salmon.  From the sound of it this year's opener was one of the slowest - only a few silvers caught is what I've heard.  Again though, I had a F#*%ing blast out there!!!  The Humboldt Bay Bar is a serious place where you have to know where to go and not to go and when - I was thriving out there, and it's 100% based on the things my Dad taught me from a young age as we'd motor in and out of there chasing salmon.  I remember going up and down big swells and being scared, and my Dad basically dismissed my fear - "we're fine" he'd assure me, and I trusted him a lot.  My Dad's gone now, but the things he taught me about the ocean, fish, appreciation of Nature, how to treat others and yourself...  He'll always be with me.  Thanks, Guys, for being a big part of the things my Dad taught me about.  I tout this community as one of the best things in my life.
