Here's the info on Nacimiento from the county's website. It also applies to Lake San Antonio. No mention of any fees.

Wow... I can see the riot now on 4th of July!  :smt044  Inspecting that many boats would take a whole pit crew of inspectors!

Here is a different flier:

Howcan we keep the lakes mussel-free?
Keeping infected boats out is the key; identifying infected boats is the challenge.
Like many lakes in the Western U.S.A., an inspection program is planned to keep high-risk vessels
out. 2010 will be the first year of such a program for Lake Nacimiento. Our emphasis for the 2010
boating season is:
~DON' MOlEAIUSSEL~ I ·
WATERCRAFT SUBJECTTO ~~
INSPECTION _ ~ CLEAN
~ DRAIN
~ DRY
Educate boaters, especially by
promoting the CLEAN.DRAIN.DRY
message
Encourageeveryboater do a selfcertification
before launching
Provide training for people interested
in learning more
. Encourage your involvement

How are private launch ramps affected?
Lake Nacimiento is unique because of the 30+ ramps situated around the lake's rugged terrain.
Private launch ramps such as Oak Shores, Heritage Ranch, Cal Shasta, Tri-Counties, Ranchos del
Lago, Running Deer Ranch, South Shore Village, and others all enjoy a lake free of mussel
infestation. Options to keep it that way range from inspecting boats as they approach the lakes along
major roads and highways to monitoring boater traffic at each private ramp.
Inspection stations along approach roads offer efficiencies, but concerns about traffic management on
holiday weekends and public costs to lease and equip such stations exist. For this initial year of
mussel prevention efforts, the focus will be on a ramp-by-ramp basis.
Each private ramp will be asked to participate in the educational program such as sharing this
document with your members, erecting signs, etc. You will also be asked to distribute self-check
forms to all boaters and your guests, and ensure that boats meet the CLEAN DRAIN DRY standard.
What can Ido?
Keep your boat CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY and off of infected lakes. Help your club or organization by
becoming a trained screener. Training sessions are planned for Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 10:00
am in Salinas, Monday, May 24,2010, at 6:00 pm at Lake Nacimiento, and Saturday, June 12, 2010
at 10:00 am at the Lake San Antonio Administration Office (see attached registration information).

Sounds like you're just one of those money grubbing nature haters. Anyone that's seen a Zebra mussel infestation in person would be more than happy to comply with CLEAN. DRAIN. DRY.

Or are you only concerned with environmental devastation when it doesn't affect your fishing schedule or pocketbook?

Don't matter because these inspections are free & self-performed.
Yes, they are free and you get to inspect your own boat. So, I wonder if the counties of Monterey & SLO s/b held as complicit in the environmental devastation that is sure to ensue..?

I got inspected at Santa Margarita Lake early in the year but not at Naci or San Antonio yet.  I didn't get charged for the inspection at Margarita.

There are billboards along the freeway stating there will be inspections.  Fact of the matter there is no way they can truly inspect every boat - there are literally hundreds of private launches on Nacimiento.  I am going to Nacimiento for a day with my daughter, a buddy and his kid on the 31st - i will see if they inspect then.

We get out so early at San Antonio there isnt anybody at the gate - just pay your $$$ in the drop box and play their game and they are happy.

Stripers are hittin at San Antonio - should be a fun next few weeks
