I am heading up for a wedding in mid-June and we are staying in Healdsburg at a place right on the river - the old river lodge - wondering if I should bring the yak or would this stretch be better in waders and walking it - looks like a lot of "beach" areas on google earth

any tips on whats hitting around that time of year are appreciated

I live just down river from that place, in late may or early June they put up a summer dam at Mem. beach that backs up the river and turns it into a small lake. You will be sitting right where it ends, so if the dam is up you can kayak down stream for about 3 miles or wade upstream where there is quite a bit of current. Right below you is a huge rock garden that can have very good fishing for smallies, small cats and carp. I fish this area a lot and will be posting reports as soon as the water warms. On the weekends expect a lot of traffic but it dosn't effect the fishing much, check out some of my old reports and PM me when it gets closer and I'll show you some good spots. If this rain ever stops top water bite will be in full swing(baby zara,2.5" Rapalas). the Russian is no bait barbless hooks 1 rod this time of year.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
