got off work yesterday at 3:30 and headed up to Nacimiento. I trolled a bunch of lures to a spot that a guy that works for Water recources tlod me he had been getting alot of fish. On my way out I hooked a spot. Over the next hour I hooked and landed 4 spotted bass and lost about twice as many as they jumped and spit the hook. I rounded the corner and put on a roostertail almost instantly my first white bass ever inhaled it. I trolled around for another half hour for a lost spotted bass. Not catching any white bass I stared to head back. as I trolled over a point I got a double hook up both were white bass I trolled back over them and did not get hit. The fish would only hit when I trolled in east. It was tooo much work running two lines so I reeled on in every time I passed over the point heading east I hooked a fish. As I reeled in my 10th fish all hell broke loose. There were fish boiling all around me. I fumbled with my second pole and managed to get a castmaster onto it. First cast about three crancks and I have one on. It spits the hook and a few seconds later I have another one on. This went on until it was almost dark and I needed to head in. I left them still boiling. In total i landed 26 white bass, 5 came home for pictures and dinner.

I have always wanted to play with white bass. I just wish that lake was a little closer to me. Over a 5 hour drive

I was told by some of the seacliff pier regulars that if you go back into all the fingers of Lake Nacimiento there are giant 40lb stripers hitting balls of shad around this time of year. I was told you can land them from shore with top water lures or by just throwing out a frozen sardine or live shad on a Carolina rig.

They were talking about San Antonio. Nacimiento does not have stripers but San Antonio is about 5 miles away and it does. I am not sure about 40lb since the lake record is 32 and some change, but last year I had some 20 plus fish days on fish in the 12 to 25 pound range. The limit is 10 and the bite can be red hot.

The limit has been the same for the 8 years I have fished that lake. Alot of the people up there want to eradicate them so they say there is no limit, but acording to fish and game the limit has always been 10. Last time I looked at the lake regulations at the lake it said  the limit is 5, but when I talked with fish and game the warden told me that it is 10.

Here is the regulation from the fish and game freshwater mantual

5.75. Striped Bass.
(a) Open season: All year except for closures listed in special regulations.
(b) Limit: Two, except in waters listed in (d) below.
(c) Minimum size: 18 inches total length except in waters listed in (d) below.
(d) Exceptions:
(1) In the Colorado River District, the Southern District (except Lake Elsinore, and New Hogan, San Antonio and Santa Margarita lakes
(A) Limit: Ten.
(B) Minimum size: No size limit.
(2) Lake Elsinore has the limit and minimum size shown in (b) and (c) above.
(e) For the purpose of these regulations, any striped bass hybrid with white bass is considered to be striped bass.

Great report man! I'd love to get into a hot bite w/light stuff like spinners & castmasters. Let us know how they taste, because I'll keep some if I ever catch em!
Yeah Andy you're probably confusing the size vs bag limit. No size limit on stripers in San Antone. And I've seen people w/8-10" stripers on the stringer before.
Thinking about San Antone for Memorial Wknd...but it gets kinda rowdy.

I beer battered a few fellets last night, they were awesome. I also brought some for the guys at work they really like them. Now I am out so I'll have to go catch more, this time I might keep more then 5.
