How can this post get any better?! Woke up with my toenails painted pink, Lisa was sound asleep, perfect joke:smt001
What can I say, the NCKA is family, and family is family! Dove with Andy and he killed it as usual. The only thing that I will claim as a catch are some calloway golf balls and a golf club! Great to see some new faces and some OG's.
Enjoy pics!

Breaking News: Big Jim Catches Big Lings From His Big Yak!

Man I'm still geeked about Saturday's session (if I can borrow a word from Mr Al Davis lol). I had a great time out there. The fishing was ok---I got about 8 rockies and a barely-legal ling: all released. I should've stayed inside the cove with everybody else, instead of paddling way out around Cypress Pt to my secretspots. Because it was crazy rough out there. It wasn't the biggest or steepest swell I've seen but it was so mixed up that a wave would crest beneath me every coupe minutes....had to keep the paddle in my lap to constantly maneuver into the breaking waves. No fun, so I let the wind push me back towards the cove, while bouncing a Kalins 10" grub on 6ozs. Only got 1 smack on it but at least I stuck to my plan of big lures. Came back into the cove and decided to try for butts in the sandy shallows by Arrowhead Pt. In about 6-10ft over pure sand I started casting a 1/2oz Spro bucktail on my light setup. Hooked up to a fish that I thought was a butt for sure...turned out to be a 24.5" ling lol.
2 days later and I'm still excited for Jim. Heck of a day bro! And I'm glad we forgot to throw-in $ for a bigfish pot  :smt003 because we would've got hustled.
Pics & vids on their way.

coming form the east bay how do i get there? and great fishing guys.

hey there, from the east bay get to 101 and take it south, head to monterey and take 1 south to the first pebble beach exit at the top of the carmel hill on hwy 1. exit and enter pebble beach and drive down the hill to stillwater cove. they will give you a map. if you enter from the carmel side its a lot faster.

good luck there, that place has magical effects.

Thanks guys...very special day for me and one that I will never forget, in large part to the hospitality and good vibes of all present!!!

Biggest fish I have ever caught here in California, and best time I have ever had out on my kayak!!!

Once in a lifetime experience that I am super grateful to have had.

Had inlaws and friends over the rest of the weekend, and we gorged ourselves on delicious whole fried RockFish and Blackened Ling filets on Saturday and Sunday.

:smt003

Was really impressed with the size and quality of the cheek meat as well...yummy!!

Breaking News: Big Jim Catches Big Lings From His Big Yak!

Pat, I showed my wife a picture of my "BigYak" next to all the rest of the kayaks and tried to make an argument that I needed to upgrade...she didn't buy it!!
 :smt009 :smt044

Oh well, any yak is better than no yak!!

Thanks again, and I can't wait to get up to Shelter Cove!!!!!!!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim
