Martin and I are planning to dig for Gapper Clams on Wednesday 3/31.  We plan to be there between 6 -6:30am. Companies are welcome.

There's no regulation on how to dig for them but it would help if you have a shovel & PVC tube.  Daily bag limit is 10 per person with a fishing license (unless he/she is 16 or younger).

Yes it can, but lucky for us it's just a short distance paddle across a channel.

I'd like to join you!  I've never been clamming before.

1. Where exactly is the location to meet up?
2.  Where do I find the cylindrical PVC tubes like the one in your post from last year?  What diameter?
3.  Other than a shovel, what other tools do I need?
4.  I don't have waders, but have a wetsuit (3mm and 7mm), plus booties.  What else do you suggest?  If it's a really really good idea to get waders, I suppose I could buy one.
5.  Any other advice?  Will you be fishing also?

thx.

1. Where exactly is the location to meet up?  Google "Lawsons Landing" and drive to the end point.
2.  Where do I find the cylindrical PVC tubes like the one in your post from last year?  What diameter? See my old post for the name of this place: http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,18293.45.html
3.  Other than a shovel, what other tools do I need? Something to bail out water like a bowl or big cup
4.  I don't have waders, but have a wetsuit (3mm and 7mm), plus booties.  What else do you suggest?  If it's a really really good idea to get waders, I suppose I could buy one.  3mm wetsuit will do just fine.  That what I'll wear there.
5.  Any other advice?  Will you be fishing also?  I might be fishing for Perches after clamming.
thx.

thx for all the info.
I don't think I'll be able to make it to Grower's Supply & Irrigation in time to get one by Wednesday morning.  Does anyone have a spare I could borrow?

You can borrow 1 from me.  I have 2 tubes.  I just checked the weather for Wednesday and it doesn't look good.  Forcast for that day is 70% thunderstorm with 13mph wind.  Thusday looks much better with only 30% chance of rain and 8mph wind.  I might have to postpone it to Thursday if the forcast isn't improve for Wednesday!

Sonny,
I hope the weather forecast for Wednesday improves.  There's no way I can get free Thursday.  I'll keep an eye on the forecast and I guess we can make a decision, go or no-go on Tuesday.  Is Lawson's landing anywhere near Miller Park?

Yes, they're about 5 miles apart.

Here is the Google's map for Lawsons Landing.  After the gate, follow the Marine View Drive to the end point (to the left of the fishing pier).  That's the closest point to the clam beds.
