Dang near killed me.  I guess it gets a lot of people, and there is no coming back if you don't get it right away.  What it is, is blood clots in your lungs, and you basically suffocate.  Comes on fast too, and is very painful.  I started coming down with it Saturday night, and Sunday morning, I left the kids at home and hauled butt for the ER.  I got out late Wed night.  I am on heavy blood thinners for a while, which might limit my kayaking.  One cut, I could bleed out, one good poke from a rockfish spine, done.  Hit my head, or slip and fall, either have a stroke or bleed out inside.  Sucks, but glad to still be here.

Buddy, glad you are doing OK, if you can call it that.
Take care of yourself, you are right those thinners can be dangerous, be careful.

Hope you recover quickly

PE's are no joke, I have had to pick up more than a few people i thought had them, and most of the time it was spot on.  Glad you caught it early enough.

blood thinners suck, I was on lovenox then coumadin for a while.  My docs read me the "cut yourself and you're dead" line and I was seriously bummed.  Asked around and was told if your blood tests are coming in good, you can fish, just be more careful and carry some stuff to pressure and hold a dresssing just in case.  If you need to they sell a powder that helps blood clot up for wounds.  You're mileage may vary, so ask around.  I heard from an ER doc, EMTs, nurses, it was amazing.

I drew some quick clot from supply, and should be good to go.  I am on lovenox and coumadin, pretty heavy dose.  I am going to rest this weekend and next before I head out.  The crappie are loaded up in my spot, and should be a good outing in a few weeks if you guys want to hit that up with me.  I think you guys are right about the doom and gloom from the dr on getting cut, but still am going to take it slow.

I got a little too close to an explosion, and the reflective overpressure that resulted form it, "jiggled" my guts.  Damaged the lung tissue.  You can get it from a bronchial infection too.  They ruled that out on me, my white blood cell count is low, so that blast on Thursday probably did it.

wow... glad you caught that in time.  In my EMT training thats one of the most serious things we are trained to look for,  i'd consider yourself extremely lucky!   Way to go taking yourself to the ER when you did,  the kids will be thankful for that.

I was doing some ordnance disposal, and the contour of the area was such that the shock wave traveled up to our barricade, and past.  The building behind us reflected the shock wave back at us, and the waves intersected (reflective pressure)  The body can take 4 psi shock pretty well, but over that, you are done. I figured I was in the 7-8 psi range.  Has to be the cause, other than that I am healthy.  Had I known, I would have called 911.

A friend was on his roof installing a satellite antenna and started having trouble breathing. Called 9-1-1 and the ambulance rushed him to Queen of the Valley in Napa. He didn't make it. 42 years old in excellent health.

Nobody's coming out alive so spend every day like it's your last.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!
