Ok guys first report here. Since I found out about this spot on this page I will share my adventure with you all.

I have never launched a crab pot from a kayak so I figured I would give it a try. I had a hankering for some dungeness crab and saw the conditions were going to be choice for sat. I cleaned out my freezer the night before. I found a couple of trout from last fall, a chinnok fliet my bro had brought home from alaska last june and some kinders bbq chicken from the christmas party. As I am headed out the door I see that loneley look on my labs face. I can't resist and everyone else I had called bailed." Load up Leroy, we are going to the beach!"

Takes me about an hour to get there from vallejo. Conditions look choice. Flat calm water and I launched with no problems. My dog was going ape$h!t on the beach but some poor lady had volunteered to dogsit for me. I launch my two hoop traps and come in. Go back out and I am suprised. About 10 dungies in the first trap with 3 keepers! 1 keeper in the next trap. I am stoked, go back to the beach and let some kids play with Leroy.

Check them again, the dog is still going nuts and get 3 more. The next time I go out I was sick of the dog going nutso so I grab his scruff and load him up. I weigh 240 and the dog weighs 90 so the wilderness systems 16 was LOADED down. He was good on the boat, didnt' thrash at all. I had to rest the hoop traps against his back when checking the traps. I get 2 more keepers and toss back a bunch of shakers. I load up the traps with Leroy on board and head in for a sucessful beach landing.

As I am putting my gear on my yak to leave I look down and see my life vest pocket that had my keys had come unzipped. UH-OH. No keys, the spare in the magnetic box had jumped of the undercarrige, no spare at home either. Some guy lets me use his phone and I call my bro for a pickup. he reluctanly agrees. When he gets there from Concord he sees the conditions and the crabs and says "we are coming back tommorrow". The condition aren't as good but I agree.

We come back with 7 traps and 3 yaks. The surf is up! 5-7 foot swells crushing the beach. After several attempts and two proken paddles we get a few traps out. The conditions would go bad then better. All in all we manage 20 legal dungies and some big rocks. We should of had surfboards on Sunday. I check on my truck in the parking lot and there was a $125 ticket on it for parking overnight in the lot. :smt013. It was not posted at all so I am going to fight it. Not one freaking sign in the entire lot. I am gonna tear that ranger up! We also saw the body of that 17 y/o girl helicoptered out on a basket. Kind of a bummer. Reminds me to always show respect to the mighty Pacific.

We boiled crab and bbq chix on the beach. Was a good day with my brothers and dog. I only have pics from Sat. Here they are

Glad Leroy had a good day.  Sorry about the keys, I keep mine buttoned up in my shirt pocket which I wear inside my farmers'.  No way they are going missing unless I do.  No signs anywhere = fight it.  Great job on all the crabs, yum yum.
