We live on a 10 ac lake, our backyard is right on the lake.  With the last few days of warm weather the bass have been coming into the shallows.  Today was beautiful, armed with a plastic worm my first fish was 18" about 5 lb, I caught 6 and lost a few, there all back in the water for next time.  (Look in for fishing partners in the Sacramento area.)

Welcome aboard Wellnesskayaker.  Wow..."caught 6 and lost a few" in 1 outing, you must have a decent day OTW!  Thank you for the report and picture.

Believe me I was surprised.  I tossed it about 5' from the bank just past the sea weed line and let is sit with any weight.  After letting it settle I would just give it a little twitch if they didn't already have it in their mouth.  Sometimes you just hit it at the right time and it makes you look pretty good.  Thanks for the nice words.

Very healthy bass.  WTG.  Thanks for the Catch-Photo-and-Release too.

Sounds like a nice day with the bass.  What did you do with the pedals on your Hobie?

You know the strap over the top of one of the peddles broke off and I have just not replaced it -  I noticed they have come out with longer fins and was thing I might try them.  We have been thinking of moving to Minden, took a trip over the other day, my wife thinks she might like Fallon NV.  Not sure about the fishing there?

Wellnesskayaker, are you using an Outback?  I have a Hobie Pro Angler and an Outback.  I added the longer Turbo fins to my Outback and it makes a big difference!  The Outback will flat run away from the Pro Angler!  It is a cheap and easy upgrade.  Another tip for the stock Hobie pedals:  silicone a 1 ounce fishing weight to the bottom back of the pedal and the pedal will stay in a upright position.  I find the pedal straps are a pain so I just took them off.

I removed the straps from day one. Added a 1 oz. weight on the back bottom of each pedal so they line up correctly every time.
Was your wife in minden in the dead of winter?? Not quite the paradise then.
