Ran out of Santa Cruz with a bud of mine this morning.

Thinking a hali or 2 might be around.

Hit the mile bouy and started to drift.  Wind came up but no problem..  Great day on the water..

No hit, run nor errors, but a great way to spend a morning/afternoon...

Good day indeed...

Nice try, better luck next time. I heard about nine were caught Saturday morning just past the hotel in the Sand City area. So they're already biting on the southern side of the bay

Nice try Jerry. I've actually been making some leaders for the halibut season myself. I can't wait
to start fishing for them.

I feel it anyday now and we will be getting some butt and that water will start to turn color.

Last Saturday I went out to the mile buoy off of Capitola and drifted. I got bites on every drift but never hooked anything up. I'm pretty sure it was halibut as the squids legs where bitten clean off the head and the heads where bitten clean off the body but still stuck to the stinger hook. On the one hand it was frustrating, on the other hand it very exciting knowing they are down there. It was definitely more then i expected.

It seems a little early, but who knows? The flatfish bite will start up any time in the next couple of months, so if the weather allows I say go for it. Nicely done!
