I can make a small run of 5-8 pound anchors. First come, first served. I have enough lead left for about 4. If you have uneeded lead around your house and want an anchor bring it. We'll trade. :smt006

Craig, these are the pyramid anchors, right?  I'd like one.  Will trade you whatever lead you need.  Will a 50 pound bar do?

Sounds fun....

It is advisable to have an anchor for this event? Also do i need one of those anchor release systems? Not sure how the tides are out that way... Only fished the bay 2 times, but in a PB

tides for SL Marina

Sa  13      Low   5:17 AM     1.9   6:23 AM    Rise  5:07 AM      7
    13     High  10:48 AM     6.9   6:14 PM     Set  4:34 PM
    13      Low   5:34 PM     0.5
    13     High  11:49 PM     6.5

Not a particularly big tide to worry about. about 1 1/2 - 2 hours of the shark derby will be during the slack.

Sharks can be caught drifting as well as on anchor. An anchor would be best but not 100% necessary.  if you want to anchor in the bay you should set up an quick release in case something drifts into you.  just do it the easy way like tote's system.

if you don't have any experience fishing for sharks and rays, bring gloves. sharks will try to curl up on you and bite you. best place to hold a smaller leppie is behind the head/fins. they go wild near the boat.

for rays, grab the two holes near their eyes and be careful of the stinger at the base of the tail. it is not likely to get you but just be aware of it.

Porky I got a loaner anchor you can use or you can daisy chain off my boat. I did that with Yakuza and it worked fine. I wouldn't sweat the release like Ben said some is at slack. I ain't grabbin them things. I actually use circle hooks and smash the barb down so I can just release them boat side with pliers or a hook release tool
