Cool, I might do this. I am also considering the NM trout derby that wknd, but the Forebay is a lot closer to home. Hmmm decisions decisions.
The Forebay group camp looks really cool too. We should reserve it instead of paying $40 each for individual sites.

I didn't know there was a group campsite there - where is it at?

Do you need to camp to fish this effectively?

I'd like to show up 2/20.

I was there on Sunday and looked at the group camp briefly. I was surprised at how nice + clean it was. It even has a small ampitheater/patio thingy. (Edit: that thing is called a "ramada" lol)
Below info is copy+pasted from here: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=558
Group Camping
Two group campgrounds are available at the San Luis Creek Area along the shoreline of O’Neill Forebay.  Both sites offer shade ramadas, tables, fire rings, flushable toilets, and hot pay showers.  Group Camp A can accommodate 60 people and 15 vehicles.  Group Camp B can accommodate 30 people and 10 vehicles.  Boats must be removed from the water by sunset.  These group campsites are available only by reservation.

Looks like it is $100/night. Better than $40/night for one individual site.
