Summertime = One of the worst songs ever....I still remember when that crappy song debuted on prime time tv. Lame.

What happened to this?

You guys started the rap links.

Here's two from two of the greatest.

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

loving this stuff!!!   it gets me through the rain and the work week :smt002
and i know never to blurt-out "I HATE COUNTRY" because it seems to be popular....sorry EricB. :smt003

.......now BnB~ i don't really like the BeeGees, but this song is the only one I will claim..

and this is the kinda music on the radio back in my youth, i had no choice, but it was real music!
ATTN: MTV Generationers.....this is what a MUSIC VIDEO looked like on TV, with an antenna :smt010  real sad, but it was free!!
Herb Alpert

5th Dimension

back in the good ol' days, it was close your eyes and imagine or wait to see them lip-sync on some primetime variety show. :smt011

Rock D~ i could actually hear&understand those rappers?  My wife's All-Time-Fav. IS Grease!! :smt005  OMG!
You were shittin'green when I was listening to this!...How many of those Rappers sampled this one?!  one of the reasons i turned my nose to rap, was because i had the foundation of it all, on vinyl!!

EricB~ You do got some culture in ya'!!  JamesBrown was the man in his day, but his horn section left him to join Parliment-Funkadelic aka "theFunkMob" (listen to link above)
.......but not the TexMex!!!!! how did the happen?!  :smt009
Click this one....its JamesBrown(w/the HornyHorns before leaving) , but at 3:40 his bass player solos, his name is Bootsy Collins, he too, later found the U.S.FunkMob......stay tuned!

Angel/Pacifico~ i was never exposed to mexican music in my youth, NONE, so i never aquired a taste, but my family did take us to our first concert. It was Santana /Malo & other LatinRockers, down in SanJoseStadium. Funny thing was, the FarmWorkers were boycotting grapes & lettuce then, and we had both items on our picnic menu.= trying to be Chicano :smt044
The LatinRock dominated the radio for a while, but soon it died and the LowRider movement took over= oldies, Yuck! :smt012

Mooch~~ NWA?!  now you're getting tougher, nice guy!, but not the FreshPrince!

BnB, Frusciante is an amazing player...  check this out:

Thanks for the education, Adam...  Being a bass player I'm hip to the Bootsy connection, but didn't know about the horns.

Chili Pepper fact:  Who discovered them?......no one other than Dr.Funkenstein himself!

It's complicated, but that dude, (John Frusciante) has been the RHCP's guitarist since '89 or so, joined when he was in his teens...  with a break for a few years awhile back to almost die from heroin while that guy who was bangin Carmen Electra filled in...  now he's supposedly clean and sober and is an amazing player as you can see....

Their original guitar player was good too, (Hillel Slovak)...  funkier style.  OD'd on heroin before they were on the radio.

I've been listening to Reggae (dancehall, dub, fusion, roots) for the last 3-4 years mostly, but have since remembered that I like other music  :smt005  These days i've been getting into some new (to me) music like Bluegrass, Greatful Dead, and assorted older classic rock from Sara's influence.

Other stuff I like:

Hip-Hop/Underground: Deltron, Grouch and Eligh, Atmosphere, Eminem, etc.
Easy Listening stuff:  Hawaiian music, Down Tempo, Acid Jazz, New Age, World, U2, etc.
Grunge: Alice and Chains, Perl Jam, Nirvana, etc.
Alt/Rock: Pink Floyd, REM, White Stripes, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Oh and anyone here use Pandora.com?

Its a free internet radio, based on a really cool concept of the Music Genome Project.  Basically you can tell it a song, artist, or genre and it will try and match other music to the list you created.  Then you can refine the list every time a song comes up.

It's really cool, high quality, and I basically stopped listening to all my MP3's and CD's when I found Pandora!  Now I just pull up a station for the mood I'm in, at home, work, and by phone I can play anywhere (car, otw, etc)

he even gets tougher, when that band-aid goes on his cheek!
stick with NWA buhdee....you'll get mo'betta street credit!

.............my mother would speak of Ray Charles & BB King, but this little blind kid named Stevie Wonder was just coming of age.
I was amazed how someone blind, could play the piano, let alone master it.
we all know the radio hits, but can you hear his soul pouring out of his figer-tips on this one?

and this one was banned from all radio play: it mentioned the "N" word.
