I will make some tackle packs like I did in HMB, and tie up some shrimp fly assortments.  I will hit up the fish sniffer for some subscription coupons, and maybe some other gear.

Boy, if we could have a huge showing it would be good politically (and fun).  Us yak fishers are seen as mere flyspecks by folks on both side of the spectrum......up here in norcal. It would help put us more on the map.  From my experience now, us yak fishers really need to make our presence felt more.......if we want more say in how things happen.

You guys are really pulling through on this one.  Thanks.

Dave

Dave this pales in comparison to the job you have ahead of you. But you are right. This could expand into a decent showing of physical numbers to show how many of us consumptive kayakers use the ocean for our food and fun. Plus the fact that we are conservationists. Then on the other hand, all tournaments that are not C+R are subject to non-fishing entities as harmful to mother earth and all her star children. :smt044

Ravensblack,
I have removed this event from the calender per your request.
Didn't mean to step on any toes.
Please add back to calender when and if you get a solid date.
Thanks,
Eric

P.S.
As for Sponsors - If asked properly most major companies are usually willing to help if they can (see my prize list from last years events).
If you need help let me know and I'll see what I can do, just remember I have already hit most of these companies up to support my events for 2010.
Thanks for taking control of this event

Kayak companies dont donate an entire kayak.

Yes they do.  I got one on the hook for this event.  Will let you know when I reel them in.   :smt002

Usually, it's more about how you ask and what bennifit the company will get out of the donation. The companies like to be told they are important to these events and how many people are going to see the Item donated.

Strictly speaking, this event is not a charity event.  However, in past years a raffle has been held, with the proceeds being donated (typically to Coastside).

Since Albion is in the NC region, and we'll be in the heat of the NC MLPA battle, I would like to suggest we consider donating to that cause.

We attended this last year and had a great time. Would like to see the same format as last year: tourney reg. @ $25, enter up to 3 fish for a combined weight, but only 1 of each RCG complex category...so any three fish comprised of a ling, a rocky, a cabby, or a greenling.

I don't remember having a raffle last year. I believe items that were donated went to the tournament top three.

Special thanks to those involved with keeping this tournament alive!

Ben

I'm going to take back what I said.  When the event was at Elk, the proceeds went to the Elk Community Center.  So it was a charity event.

Last year at Albion was not a charity event, all the proceeds went back into the event itself.

Sorry for any confusion.

There was a side bet going on last year between contestants that nothing to do with the event itself.

Jack and myself will be doing this event. We have already discussed the format and it will be presented when the dates are confirmed. Allen if you can secure a kayak for the event thats cool. Let us know. I will be contacting Ocean Kayak for a chance of getting one at at least cost. We also have discussed the desire to have prizes for up to 10th place, so if anyone secures something again please let us know. Thanks Craig
