So here's the deal:  Last year Sean reserved the albion campground for the last weekend in July (this year) to do a tourney.  Since then, well, he's not gonna take charge this year.  I'd like to do it as a benefit for maybe the Recreational Fishing Alliance or something we all think is good (if we could get it in the black).  But, 1) I don't know how to do anything like that, and 2) I'm gonna be swamped with the MLPA stuff.

I'd like to help, and Sean also might be convinced to assist, if someone else kinda led the charge.  The dates would give us friday and saturday for fishin and sunday (aug 1) for abbing.

Do we have anyone to step up to the plate?

I had inquired about doing so a couple of weeks earlier, since I'm off on a tuna trip on July 31. Even if it IS two weeks earlier now, I couldn't because of work. Maybe next year, if I end up retiring early. I enjoyed the Albion experience.

I'd be glad to help if someone else can take the lead and/or team up but it's impossible for me to head this up with the way my work life is going this year. I would like to see it happen this year, esp if the space is already reserved. Anyone want to take it on? - let me know how I can help.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. This could be interesting. It would take some dough and and commitment to get things rolling such as the hoodies and t's. I can approach some businesses in the Sonoma county area for prize donations. Albion was truly a great event and I was saddened to think that it wouldnt go on what with the departure of Sean. Should I ?

I talked to Sean this am and got his blessing.  I would like to do it. If anyone else has desires or concerns please post here. Craig. I will try to make it as fun and great as Sean always has.

Speaking from a bit of experience. If you want the $ to go to charity don't worry about T-shirts etc unless you can get them donated. Have people pay cash onsite, keep it in $20 denominations (20,40,60). Do a raffle as well, all proceeds going to charity. It is easier to get prizes for a raffle than it is for a derby for some reason. Who ever is running it should not plan on fishing the day of the event. You might get out for an hour or so but really don't plan on it.

And above all remember it is all about fun, don't stress!

I'm sad that I won't be around for this BUT if you guys need gift certificates for prizes, I'm sure Hook1 will be able to give away a couple. Let me know what I can do to help.

Dave, thanks for getting the ball rolling!

I have some experience with kayak fishing tournaments and will be happy to lend any level of assistance.  As well established as it is, furthering the Albion event should come easy.

Bill's counsel is GOLDEN and the recipe for a lifetime of success!

I have thought about this some more and as I have never done anything remotely like this I am bowing out. I will help getting some prizes. Whoever takes this on dont mess it up. I dont think I have the capabilities or experience. Sorry. I had my hopes set too high.

Craig, I've done a number of tournaments.  You can do it.  It's not an overwelming amount of work.  I got your back in whatever you need.  I just can't be at the event this year otherwise I'd volunteer to take the whole thing on.  If you can be the man on the ground, I'll join the men behind the man on the ground.
