Is there A better gun for the price? I will spend A little more if there is A better gun out there....Thanks....Andy :smt006

I have a Mako 60 with twin 16mm bands. You can get one any size up to 90 new for 175 dollars with a 3 year warranty. I have 3 Makos and love them. Checkout the Mako spearguns website.

Any particular reason why?  (i.e. curiosity or are there particular shortcomings you've found in band guns)
What are you looking for in a gun?

Well I had A band break on me once that I wasnt to happy about. That being the first reason. I think the second might be that I want to get into A gun that has the kick and shortness of the gun ive named. The gun I am currently shooting is A A.B.Biller 42 special. The gun is too long to manuver into the crevices. And the gun named above is affordable.... Your guys feedback is very critacle to my decision, and very appreciated....

Cool, I can see your thought process a bit better.  The Biller 42 is a pretty big gun for hole hunting!
Pneumatics can be very efficient for close-quarters combat... but have their own set of challenges:
 - You need a loading tool (or in a pinch... a rock works)
 - Instead of band problems, you have to worry about seals leaking
 - If you line a fish, the hole will be 3x bigger than a euro gun.

Bands are really easy to make & quick to replace if showing signs of wear.  My best advice is to try different guns/setups to see what works best.  Some water time and a few shots with a speargun is worth weeks of online research.  ;)

I have a Mares mini pneumatic that is good for abalone type trips. since it is small it works well for hole hunting but it was a pain for deep water because the power drops off the deeper you go and I tended to bend the shaft often trying to do fast follow up shots by not taking my time to reload. At the advice of the instructor of my underwater hunter class I purchased a ABbiller 24 special and have not taken the mares out since in the last 15yrs

You can try my 60 if you get the ocean to calm down so we can dive.

After giving my picasso band gun to the ocean in October I bought A Cressi Sub SL Star 70 Pnuematic in December, but haven't used it yet.

You can give it a try in Shelter Cove or sooner if you start diving Stillwater North instead of Stillwater South.

Good luck on your choice....

I had a pneumatic gun but it failed after 2 seasons. band guns are more reliable and easy to repair. this can be critical  when diving out of country.

I went to A few dive shops last night and checked some guns out. I am going to rethink my decision on A pneumatic gun. The band guns do seem to be A bit more reliable. I dont like the way A pnuematic gun is loaded. Straight up.... I will probably get A JBL.... Art what model should I look for? Your guys opinions are great. Thanks...Andy.

None, I was joking bro....and stop going to scuba shops, there's way more options out there than what is carried at your local scuba shop. You should really borrow amphib's mako 60 and see how you like it.
