Cast of Characters: Craig / Ravensblack, Brian G and Mooch....
Location: forgot the name of the spot, all I know is that we were guided by Craig
Mission: abalone, speard perch, urchins, mushrooms and crabs...

outcome:
abalone limits = check (Brian picks his personal best - so far :smt002 Nine incher!!!!)
speared perch for crab bait = check (despite hunting in the surgy area, mooch bags 3 and spares(missed) a dozen  :smt013
Sea urchin = Brian cleans house
mushrooms = the Russians beat us to it  :smt012
crabs = Loong story. I'll let Brian chime in on that one :smt011

Thanks to Craig for taking us to this special place...too bad it will be closed down for good at the end of the season  :smt011 And thanks also to Brian for letting me mooch a ride :smt008

*we need to get craig a new wetsuit....there was a full moon at the end of the dive  :smt044

Looks like the slugs beat you to those shrooms.

Brian, that's a sweet shell. I was thinking of going tomorrow, but it looks like the slop is picking up.

Good Times:  Check!  You guys obviously had an awesome time.  That's a fantastic ab, Brian!  Round and pearly - really nice one.  Way to guide the guys on a special trip, Craig.  Thanks for the report and looking forward to more.   :smt001

Thank GOD for modesty and wearing something other than skin under his wetsuit.

SAY NO TO CRACK!!!!!!

I have only picked one big ab in my life 9 3/4" and it cost me cracked ribs and a dislocated shoulder........you boys do solid work!!

You guys were so fun to hang with. Dude, Brian is a maniac. All the way from Lodi and back in one day. WOW!I thought we could find some easy porcinis but we didnt really even try. There were people scouring the hillside all over the place. We went up to Horseshoe first but it was banging pretty hard there so we went to this little finger that sticks out north of Fisk Mill about a mile. really protected and the viz was great at 15 ft. We found a cave that you could actually swim way back into but it was kind of creepy/dangerous so there are some big abalone still back in there. FOREVER! :smt010 Anyway , the day was pleasant and the sun was warm especially on the hump back up the hill. Brians big abalone had the coolest shell I have seen. I will let him tell you how it got that great pearly top on it. Any guesses? Mooch, I want to dive and fish with you as much as I can before you split for AK. So whenever you are going to spear down that way give me a ring. Please. This is part of the closure area so It just thrills the shit out of me to share it with some quality people. I blew out my suit finally. Soooooooooooooooooooooo, I ordered a brand new yazback from freedive shop. Plus some new long fins and socks. Going deep Baby. Here are some pics.

1. Mooch and Brian comparing knives
2. Brain and Mooch in the H2O
3. The fingered cove
4. I swear they looked bigger underwater
