Well, take her kayak fishing of course!?!?!  :smt044

And it was HER idea!!!   :smt057
:occasion13:SARA!!!:occasion13:

We got up at the crack of 9:30, or so... Birthday Girl gets to sleep in  :smt002    Loaded up the yaks and gear, and headed out the door, destination Shadow Cliffs lake.

When we arrive and pay our fees, (no inspections!) the DFG is pulling down the ramp and we get to watch them empty a few hundred trout into the water.   :smt007  When we launched we could see them all schooled up by the ramp darting around like a big bait ball.

Tooled around the lake, anchored up and got a tiny bass on my power worm  :smt010  Tossed a crank bait for a few and had a nice hit, but didn't stick  :smt009  We headed back to the middle and let the wind carry us as we drifted our bait in the water.

Headed back in, watching a guy in a float tube reeling in a couple trout and when we got close to the ramp tossed out and caught a tiny trout before we hit land again.  When I was packing up the gear the ranger dude took down the no fishing signs by where they put the fish in earlier, so I sent Sara over there to catch a few trout!  :smt003

We just keept reeling in fish after fish with a fast retrieve of a lone power worm, it was a freeking blast!  :smt005  Each one released back to be picked up some other day  :smt004

All in all, fun and relaxing time on the water!  Followed by a trip to her favorite Thai food restarunt for dinner.   :fat

Terrific way to spend the GF's birthday! It sure looked like you two had a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing.
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Good stuff there Al.  Way to put her on fish, ensuring that she wants to do it again.

I can only dream of the day that my woman wants to go fishing on her birthday.

Love the vanity plates!

I think it's true love!  You got a good one, Bro!

That might be a good place to bust out the jumbo trout pattern swimbaits.

"anchored up and got a tiny bass on my power worm"

Al isn't this the same way you caught Sara? .... Power Worm?
Sorry that was out of line, but I'm leavin it in here....

Glad to see you got out there it looked like a great time. Usually the trout don't start biting for a couple days after the planting due to stress, but glad you got into them.

Let's get out there and get some rockfish before the season is over.

Happy Birthday again Sara, and please forgive my rude comments
