Monterey 10/6

On the water by 730.  Very few boats today.  Saw 3 or 4 other yaks and met Ernie.  No white sea bass for me today.  Had two real good take downs on dead sardines on the bottom.  Bait came back tooth raked from the gill plate to the tail, but no hook up.  Got one small blue all day; sent him back. great weather and it was nice to meet Ernie.

Here was the only pic I took.  Yhey had a hell of a vegetation fire east of Seaside.

The smoke from that was thick in the air in Freedom. We could see the smoke cloud to photographed rising up from the Mntry area.................

Thanks for the report. That's a control burn on Ft Ord--they do it every year to remove bushes so they can more easily find UXO (unexploded ordinance). Couple years ago it got way out of control and you could hear rounds going off at random lol. 

All that UXO/EOD keeps me in a job in this recession!

I'll bet the residents around there were'nt too happy.  We had ashes dropping on us while we were fishing!

Thanks for the report, NT. Too bad about the wsb's not biting, I know how that goes. Good to hear you met Ernie. He's a skilled fisherman, and I'm usually OTW with him. Work has been a little slow the last few months and right when the WSB come in and the bite is hot what do you know work picks up and I can't get OTW. WTF? That's life I guess. Keep trying and better luck next time
