Well we had a few missions to accomplish so we set our sites on the Klamath to get them all done.

Mission 1-Paige wanted some fish in the pram since she put a lot of time into restoring it but hasn't got a chance to try it out

Mission 2-Leah has always wanted to ride a big jet boat and she REALLY needed a break.

Mission 3-Elsie wanted to go camping one more time before the end of the season.

Being a teacher, Leah HAD to work Friday.  Me and Paige decided to cut school and get started on Mission 1.  We hit it late Thurs. so we we could fish our brains out Friday.  When I got to camp Juan and Redyak Jim said it was slow where we normally go, but there were fresh fish just below 101.  Jim was kind enough to help set up my enormouse family tent...in the dark.

We hit the launch at first light and I managed to get my Tacoma BURRIED to the the frame in sand.  Not a good start. Me an Jim made a futile attempt at digging it out but it was worth a try.  I REALLY wanted to get Paige on some fish and I was starting to get frustrated.  Thankfully Juan came along and strapped me out.  Once on the water, there was no sign of fish and we were surrounded by sealions.  Doh...I explained to Paige this was a bust, and it was time to move on to Plan B.

Plan B included re-trailering the pram and heading to where I figured yesterdays fish would be sitting today.  We launched into water with no dogs, and the occasional roller.  It didn't take long to put a good dent in Mission 1...

Between action we soaked in the super nice weather and the gorgeous surroundings...

However our favorite view looked something like this...

This one gave her quite a tussle. She was peeing her pants with excitement, but 20 minutes later she went 2 for 2 on her first barbless fish.  The hook literally fell out once in the bag...

Oh the chromey goodness...

The "sleeping bag" as the girls call it would barely fit into the fish drawer...

Mission 1 was complete by 1100...

The mid-afternoon wind that usually frustrates fishing filled Paige's time...

I got the fish bucked up and we planned our dinner.  We headed up to Crescent City for a few ingredients and then we went to it...

This didn't suck...

The rest of the family arrived later that night and we hit the rack to get ready for Missions 2 and 3.  I had made reservations for a Jet Tour and the wife and kids were stoked.  We arrived to see this huge thing...

We got front row seats...

WeeeEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeee!!!!! Mission 2 down...

The rest of the weekend involved family fun and polishing off Mission 3.  Activities included ping pong, ruining kites, ice cream, etc.  Even the dogs got more people food than normal...

While I always see a lot of online sniveling about fishing the "K", I don't get it.  Sure its not perfect, but if you get in the groove of it, it ain't exactly bad either and I absolutely love it.  I am stoked that the family is learning to love it as well.

Killer report and pics as usual from the Kelly Slater of Kayakfishing. A trip up there is great just for the scenery and excellent camping and catching fish is just bonus. Glad you got the bonus. Did Paige get to see the campground's resident 'mascot'? jim

Yep!  Juan faked us out super hard with a few bear drills, but we finally got to see it.

The pram looks good.

Thanks...it is also a joy to fish out of.  I love the versatility of this particular boat with the drop-in benches for either solo or double.  Can't wait for the Smith.

Sean, that is the best report I have seen in awhile for all around joy. One thing though we have to get Paige on the site so we can read her personal experience. WTG Paige. Thanks again for the pics and vid.
