Another reason why some of us don't post hookups on a regular basis is because all you have to do is check the WX and know if you go...  they'll be there.

That's why I don't post much in the way of any fishing anymore. :smt009

I think there are other reasons (not mentioned) why people have stopped posting open Hookups.
Kayak fishing in the ocean is dangerous. And not everybody wants to be held responsible (liable) for the safety & well-being of somebody they don't even know. And vice-versa...it's not wise to put your safety & well-being in the hands of a relative stranger.
That's one reason why a MO Hookups board would be good---maybe it would encourage more people to post Hookups and invite friends to join them...without being overly-concerned with the kayaking skills/abilities of some random person you just met.

Must be me, but it seems this isn’t anything that a quick registration of a lurker account can't circumvent.

Is there some feature I'm not seeing?

Lots of good site comments and feedback here.  I know NCKA could use a facelift and our forum could benefit from reorganization and consolidation.  I also like the way our sister site NWKA looks and feels.  I hope to get with Bill, Zee, Mooch, and other moderators to make some site enhancements, but that'll likely have to wait until everyone has time to work on it -- most likely at the end of the year.

In the meantime, we call all help by doing a few things....

1)  Post new topics in the appropriate forum.  For example, don't post new topics about kayaks in our Reports or Hook-up sections.

2)  For new topics in our Reports and Hook-up sections, don't forget to include a date in the subject line.  It'll benefit readers and help us moderators manage the site better.

3)  Avoided thread jacking.  It's easy to do, many of us have done it without knowing.  Please stay on topic.

4)  Don't hesitate to alert moderators of inappropriate posts or other site problems.  Moderators can't catch everything.

On the subject of making our Hook-ups section members only, I'd like us to avoid imposing more site restrictions unless absolutely necessary.

Thinking before you post like you think before you speak to your Boss,Wife etc. would give those darn admins. and moderators more time to fish!

Less is more, user participation required.

I'm pretty happy with the site except I used to read all the Posts but there is just too much now.

A feature that Coastside has I really like is you can select a person then click a box that says don't show me posts from this person would have loved it when Judd used to post.

I think that most of us are intelligent enough to keep a secret spot, or fishing click under the hat if need be, but to exclude newbies from any topic may come off as pretentious.

I lurked around this site for a long time, before I got the nerve to post and ask questions. If I did not have access to Hook ups I probably would not be here.
This site is a special one to say the least, and would hate to see that Ora change in any way.

sorry for eating my granola on your front lawn, but that's how I feel.
