I fish and dive off a tuna boat right now...I mean a Cobra Fish n dive.
I'm evolving and feeling more and more comfortable OTW and want more speed to go long rang and retreat faster.
At 280# and w/ scuba tank and weight belt, the options are limited I know.
The wildman from the far North Abking vouches for the factor and thats good enough for me.
Any available?

Wildman here.   :smt003

Have you paddled an X, Steve?  I was under the impression that they're quite comparable to a F&D, but I'm likely wrong as I've never paddled any Cobra's.  I'd be interested in trying some of the other Malibu models too.

Hey boss,
I understand they [ X factor] have the same big payload but are faster.
The fish and dive however has the best brakes in the kayak world.
You stop on a dime when you stop paddling!
I want to get the speed up but cannot work in the small stuff that sub 200 lb people can.
I love the work out and a better glide would encourage it. The fish n dive feels like paddling thru pudding sometimes. In big surf launches and returns, the F'n D is slower to respond which is not cool. Especially when the Bean is running big.

My tarpon 130 has a 550 lb rating and has a pretty quick hull even though it's 34" wide. It can be used solo or tandem. The only draw back is it doesn't have large hatches for internal storage.

Steve you are welcome to paddle my X I think you will be surprised, it does track better but I wouldn't say it glides it's a little faster in the long run but the F&D accelerates much faster in the surf. Being longer the X paddles much better against the wind and short chop.

Hey bajareefer....I've actually got an X-Factor for sale.  It's yellow.  It has the gator hatch option, has a Ram Rod holder (in front of the seat), two rod holders behind the seat, has a cart and strap for transportation, nice seat with storage behind it.....basically, it's loaded and ready to paddle.  The only thing I'd like to keep is the paddle.  I'm located in Clovis, near Fresno...  I am asking $975 for it...

Let me know if you are interested...

Mike

Hey,
I was at the Outback today paddling the X factor for the first time.
 I thought it was great.
Faster, very stable and comfortable. It supports the heavy weight in the middle and not the rear end.
I thought it paddled 20% faster with the same effort as the wide boat I have now.
I want one and will begin the search anew.
 Steve
I have a good paddle, a hiback seat...and do my own rivet work, mounts etc.  so a stripped down model is fine...a blem or an old one....or one a credit card can be used on!

Why yes if I can...
That would insure a quick and speedy purchase of an X factor.
I think the Cobra is a great boat...sturdy and very safe; perhaps too safe. ...I wanna paddle futher and faster now to the less safe areas.
Sure ships are safer in the harbor, but they are built to leave it.
I get more of a thrill where I get so far out that the adrenaline kicks in.
To break free of the pack at HMB for example....I'd like to round the point and head for Montara!

Anyone up for a Cobra FnD?
Steve
