Met with Andy (BaitNBeer) 7'ish, then Steve (MADDOG) showed up around 8, it was really nice early in the morning, but the bite was a little off, Andy could only manage Gopher and Chinas, I fished next to him and stuck a nice cab, I also manage some good size chinas and gopher, I caught another Cab but put it back, I probably had most lost/or unbutton fish to date, and they feel really nice too, unfortunately, the pics has to wait till Andy put them up, as I said on my tittle I was humbled, well, almost :smt005 :smt005 I landed fine but miss grabbing my yak handle and got hit by those sleeper so the yak was upside down, took me a while to get it back, It got nasty hightide and the wind picks up, now I understand why experienced ones are humbled by BH, I didn't lost any gear this time (learned from previous experience) However the camera wasn't so lucky lost all on the water shots of my cabie and some catches...Andy can you post the pics when you get a chance, thanks

yea that landing was good times! i had the butterflies paddling in looking at the surf being insanes , i ended up making it in but i left my yak unatended to close to the surf zone and it got washed up and i had to go charging after it!

seemed like the water got murky when the tide changed and that turned the bite off , makes sence but i had a blast ad ill have a few pics up here in a few

right on darius for rolling out there with me, cant wait for next time!

Thanks for the concern Redyak, I think I injured my left leg I am feeling it, I was trying to recover my yak and got slam on the big waves in front of me and hit me on the side! I guess my adrenaline was pumping earlier I didn't feel it..

Thanks for the pics Andy would have been nice if I manage to post mine..

Thanks for posting and glad to hear everyone is (mostly) unscathed. The Bean is a great kayak fishing spot but it is a serious one. That place will purr when you go out but roar when you try to come in on any change in tide, wind, and swell direction. If the Sea takes only your pride, you've gotten off easy and should be glad of it--especially at the Bean.

Glad you're OK Darius.  Hope nothing is serious on your left leg.  Thank you for the reports and pictures guys.

Dude, I hope you're ok!

One of the steadfast rules of being in the surf break with a longboard would also apply to kayaks: NEVER let your board/yak come between you and the incoming wave.

Not trying to sound preachy, but I have cracked a rib before taking a 9 ft Harbor board in the side, and I imagine a 15 foot, 60 lb. boat would do a bit more damage than that, given the chance...  :smt009

Or worse, you could easily break your tibia and lower leg if the yak slams you just right. Should always try to stay on the ocean side of your yak or just let it wash in and then grab it, easy to give advice-harder to actually follow it. Glad you are all ok. Went out there a week or so ago and Gained Much Respect for that place---as fickle as a women and just as unpredictable. <M
