There is a TON of info on the site.  If you search "camera", you'll find enough information to keep you busy for a long while.

That said, I have the Olympus SW 770 and am still figuring it out even though it is 2+ years old.

I just got a Canon D-10.  It's really easy to download with the Canon software or you can use the windows software on you PC.  It's a 12 megapixel camera and like all Canon cameras, the optics are outstanding.  Water proof to 33 feet and shock resistant from drops make this a great camera for a yakker.  There are floatable straps available for a few bucks on Ebay.  I read a lot of reviews and this one seems to be at the top of the heap.

I got my Olympus Stylus 1030SW for 2 years now and still love it.  It's water proof to 33ft, shock proof, freeze proof, and battery life is exceptional!

A few weeks ago, I picked up the new Panasonic TS1. I haven't tried it underwater yet but it does take some very nice photos.

Although I own the Olympus Stylus 1050SW, I'd suggest getting a Pentax Optio instead. They seem to take better photos.

OR steelheader,

Thanks for your mention of the Lumix TS1. I've been eying this camera as part of my long wish list. How do you like the HD video it takes? What you you list as the camera biggest pros & cons as it relates to using for kayak fishing?

It must be a name thing?

I haven't used it for much video yet. Only a couple of short demo shots so far. After reading up on it, I decided I probably won't be shooting video in HD simply because any video I do shoot will be intended for something like youtube.

So far...
PROS: The camera easily fits into a PFD pocket, taking videos is a single button push, the shutter release is big enough and easy to operate, you have to press the power button for a few seconds to power up, it shuts off with a quick push of the power button...great photos

CONS: You have to press the power button for a few seconds to power up, although I haven't tested it out seriously yet...I'm not sure about the battery life yet

I'm hoping to have it mounted on my yak in time for our rockfish tourney in mid-Sept. It'll get a good workout then. I was also looking at the new Canon D10? but didn't like the bulky feeling. This one is sleek and easy, just how I like things.  :smt002

There are plenty of "HD" posts in youtube, so you shouldn't have a prob posting hidef content, in fact... it was a HD youtube search on "lumix ts1" that sorta sold me on the camera. For those interested, check out:

I love my Pentax Optio W60.  That said, don't forget that these are only waterproof to a certain depth (13' for the Optio), and IMO that number is an estimate.  While in Kauai a few weeks ago some dummy <cough, me> went snorkeling and apparently went too deep (although I swear I didn't go below 10').  My display started acting all screwy, and when I got to the beach I opened the camera to find a few water drops in the battery compartment.  The camera still worked, just not the display (so I had to guesstimate shots).  I dried it out for a week, popped in the battery and it worked...for a day.  Now it won't even turn on <sigh>.  I'm sending it to Pentax tomorrow...hopefully they'll honor the warranty.  :smt009

I have the Olympus 770, very pleased with it.  although many cameras may be water proof to a certain depth, none float.  Olympus makes a float strap.
