Here in northern California the rockfish season closed 8/15. My question is, did it close all the way to the Oregon border?
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Juan,

You might find this page helpful when trying to decipher CA ocean regs..

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/fishing_map.asp

The map is clickable and will take you to the current regulations

Looks like rockfish is still open in the Northern Managemnet Area (between Cape Mendocino and the Oregon border) until Sept 15th.

We're open up here until 9/15, Juan.  And the line isn't at Cape Mendo...

OR-caught fish wouldn't count towards AOTY though. And I assume that's why Juan is interested. In which case....yeah...rockfish season is closed.  :smt044

Now I am confused--not all of NorCal is closed--according to the DFG Site (http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/bfregs2009.asp) for Point Arena to Pigeon Point the RCG Complex is open until Oct 15th; OR border to 40°10' N. latitude (near Cape Mendocino) is open until Sep 15. It is 40°10' N. latitude (Cape Mendocino) and 38°57.5' N. latitude (Point Arena) that closed Aug 15th.

Stripers are heading into the Bay and Delta about now so that's an option. Lake del Valle Stripers ought to be up and feisty when it starts to turn over in a month--true of the rest of the foothill lakes that have them as well--if you don't mind the drive. Stripers are doing at the Forebay.

Where did you see OCT. 15

Boat-based Anglers3:
Open: June 13-Oct 31
Closed: Jan 1-June 12, Nov 1-Dec 31
Divers, Shore-based Anglers3:
Open year-round
