I am planning to go Camping this Labor Day weekend cant decide where to go, we've been going Clear Lake every year, but, I think theres got to be another place with good scenery and good fishing of course, I want to check out craigs sierra trip but I have no idea where it is... I appreciate any info, I am a CPR on freshwater since theres no abundance of fish there like Salty.. I prefer bass fishing (Thats why I make a trip at CL every year) but trout panfish anything that me and my son can enjoy! Again Thank you!!!!

I sure like Big Sur, but you may need reservations.  Check the next spot down the line called "Pacific Valley"

Lake Naciemento or San Antonio can be nice..

Look in nevada Co. hwy 20 near 80
if you turn off on lake spaulding bowmen lake area or start with Grouse ridge there ara dozens of lakes to choose from
If you don't mind the drive try up 50 towards 89 cables had a plant with some marked trophes recently my buddies have coming out with limits
The grouse ridge area you park at one lake and hike to a10 others just pick a stream bed to follow.
Forrestry map would help
good luck Brian

Go to the delta. Take a bag and find an island to camp on. Here's one place if you are familiar with the delta. Just south of Herman and Helen's marina across the San Joaquin is a island called goat island we have camped there lots of times. There are lots of places to camp there as far as pay sites also. And its a good place for bass. Sherman Island, Brannon Island, Tiki lagun.

Have fun

well i would not go to nacimiento or san antonio on a holiday weekend unless you want to hear people partying till 3:00am and share the lake with a thousand power boats their nice to go to but not on a labor memorial or 4th of july. However If your ever wondering where you can go on a holiday and find a giant party those are pretty good bets.

Lots of kayaks easy on the power boats . A guy I work with got back yesterday 122 fish in 5 days over half browns not plants average size 14-16 in. Most were just dragging a worm.

IMO: stay home...worse time to camp = long holidays, too many campers and too much traffic to deal with  :smt011

up near sardine lake in the seirras is a nice spot , theres a bunch of lakes to actually enjoy and last time out i caught a gang of trout, take 80 towards reno then take a left on 89 , follow it up untill you get to seirraville  then take a left towards downieville, i forgot the roads after that but its pretty simple and u can follow the signs...then at night travel back down to seirraville and take lemon canyon road to the hot springs where clothing is optional(mostly women) and soak your evil spirts away!

The last time I was at Sardine Lake (summer 2008) the only guys catching trout were jigging little cast masters.
