PG yesterday ended up being fairly decent. Caught a keeper ling, while I was reeling it up the other pole has a 2 1/2 lb. verm. hooking up. Exciting ten-fifteen minutes. I caught the ling drifting a small yellowtail rockcod with a purple squid skirt on the nose. Ling coughed up two baby octopus. Used 50 lb. braid with 36" 17 lb. leader on 3-way swivel halibut rig, bouncing 4 oz. weight. Other fish were caught with same rig only frozen 4-5" sardines and hard plugs were used

Nice ling calbear! That's where I bagged my 1st yak-ling...good times.

But yeah, if you catch a rockfish/ling/cab while fishing 2 rods....it must be released. Thems the rules.

Coral St. high tide, swell wasn't as bad as I had expected it would be. Heavy swell has kept me away from there lately. Thanks for that reminder about two rods and rock fish. I'm aware of the reg, I hadn't caught anything yet except the yellowtail. The thing is though, regardless of my use of it, that is a rock fish, it was so small and I had it categorized in my head as live bait.

All good. Just making sure none of the homies get popped for some BS reg.
Because the truth is---if a warden saw you catch a rockfish while reeling in a lingcod...you'd have to release both fish. Or get cited and fish confiscated.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. I always thought you could fish two rods with a 2 rod stamp and once you've retained a rock fish then you could only use one rod. Fisherman usually remark, when the subject comes up in the course of casual bullshitting, "Once you got a rock cod in your boat you can only use one line, you know or you can get a ticket." I appreciate the clarity, thanks
