Hey guys-
New to the sport but been fishing my whole life. Can anyone suggest a few good spots where i could practice shore launching (for uber-beginners) and catch a few fish/crabs as well? Been fishing Paradise Park the last few weeks and am looking to try something new.

Thanks! and looking forward to posting pic's of my first yak caught fish!

new brighton (in SC). There usually is some level of shore break there. Gates open at 8 and you'll need/want wheels.

what is MBK?
Val, your not alone on this site, I am a newbie myself I had my fair share of garage sale recently, since we are from the same area, I always fish during the weekend we have an experience 415'er his name is Marvin know as Shicken, he always ventures on the big blue, PM him for some pointers.. HMB is also good for newbies.. I am attending the Albion event you might wanna check it out..

Any harbor, dock, or protected launches is what you should look for.  SC harbor was my first, followed by HMB, and Capitola off the wharf.  Then I worked up to all the shore launches that are easy like Capitola, MBK, etc.

for easy launching and landing, HMB is ideal for newbies.  the place is well protected from the ocean swells.  only things you have to watch out at this location are the tide and wind if you are going to venture out to the open ocean.

Easiest - Avila, Moro Bay, Leffingwell Landing, Stillwater Carmel, Monterey Bay, Moss Landing, SC Harbor, Pigeon Point, Fort Ross, Stillwater North, Shelter Cove

Moderate - Monastary (Carmel), Coral St (Pacific Grove), HAlf Moon Bay, Stinson, Tomales

Difficult - Bean Hollow, Big Sur, everything else...

Sharkiest - Bean Hollow, Davenport, Pigeon Point, Ano Nuevo, Piedras Blancas

All that said... take a safety and paddling class, get a PFD and wetsuit, get a buddy who knows what they are doing and have a great time.  :smt006
