I read where several guys were planning on Bean Hollow for Wednesday.
I failed to read where they also said they perhaps were after all not going.
So, like a dumbass, I showed up all alone.

Now, doing the Bean alone is...as everyone knows, not so recommended.
I thought that maybe since I was early, the rest would come later.
 So...
 Out I went!.

So Malibu two...Scallen ya missed it!
I let a dozen loose and kept the bigger of each species including a big greening and a gopher.
The blacks are in, the ling was a good one and the best eating fish ever, a fat cabezon.
There were whales, dolphins seals, sea lions...and lotsa fish.
The only thing missing was the....the.....you know.

The conditions were good. Low wind, nice drift.
No gear lost, close to home. Lots fillets per gallon of gas.
Easy launch and reentry. Tomorrow may be even better!
The water was pretty clear for this place and I thought briefly what a great dive it would make off that offshore rock 1/3 a mile out.
 Then, I perished the thought.

Very cool greenling w/ lionfish like fins.

Good Times on the solo mission, and you've been a little scarce for a while, Steve - nice to see ya.  Way to get out there and grab life by the horns.   :smt001

Thanks guys,
And yet the Bean was so gentle today!
I was in New Guinea for most of the past year but have home duty now.
With all foreign work I do, I miss the NCKA and our very own Northern Calif coast everytime I leave.

The ling was panko'ed and it was so very good...my wife, in classic form asked why I didn't catch some more?
'Sweetheart"... I says...."I always choose to take lingcod but they don't always choose me." When they do, its special. Ya never know when you're about to make a memory....and then suddenly...its on!
I was 19 again today and it was wonderful.
See you guys out there again soon.

Dammit!  :smt013

I took my 4 yr old nephew fishing at the Pacifica Pier today. It was blowing like hell but we caught a few jacksmelt so he was excited.

It looks like I'm fishing tomorrow, either the Bean, Ft. Ross, or Rodeo Cove.

Nice work out there.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...
