Nice pics! I like the one on the lap as it shows off the "Thresher purple."
Man, I wish I was down there.

It was my first time making bait with a sabiki, first time fishing SantaCruz, first time being surrounded by the "Legends Of NCKA" and i get the HotStick? WTHell?
It was these guys who made me think i could get out there and fish like they do.

pic1~ scAllen, pole pole, PapaBill and ChuckE(not pictured) are the real Legends. I'm just happy to have caught my own bait for once, all the rest was a bonus!
Lest Adam's head gets too big ... you bro, tell the crowd about your jumping halibut.  That $hit was funny.
hold on, i got to re-prop my enlarging head up.........ok, i got this 'Butt hooked, i know all about the going bazerko when you lift thier head out of the water, so i didn't. I keep it well below and i'm positioning my net underneath for a scoop-up. She sees the net below and bolts straight up, airborne and lands in the water on the other side of my yak, still hooked and digging deep, the line must have wrapped around one of the pole eyes, cuz it was going bendo, in the wrong direction, the tip was bent up towards the sky, line wrapped around the middle of pole and line peeling out......talk about LUCK! ...as my net floats away.

Then Lino is peddling in front of me and i see my pole get nervous, then see his pole go bendo, then see a long fin following him, I yell out"you got a Thesher!" and he yells back" YOU! have a thresher" and sure enough, i see my line cutting through the waters surface. Trying to grab one of those live bull whips is a challenge, but when given specific OTW how-to-do-it instructions, I did it all by hand!....and damn near got bitch slapped by its tail during the meelay.

FH you a legend bruddah. Represent!! :headbang:
thanks bro!!....maybe one day, just not yet. :smt001

Sounds like you guys had a good time on the water. I would have gone too but missed the hookup, must be in the offlimit section of this site.

Nice Report

Congrats to all who caught the fish. I heard a lot of radio chatter about threshers and getting a sleigh ride. Must have been you guys.

Nice work on the halibut again, you've got their number.
