22nd looks open so far.  Thinking about arriving the night before.  Where would any of you suggest as far as camping goes?

I've had good luck crashing on pullouts.  $20 pays for a long range (driving) trip for me.   :smt004   Not like I use camping facilities anyway.  I arrive at 11:30 and leave at 6.  It's actually hard to find an unoccupied pullout by that late...

You can camp at Reef campground or Stillwater Cove, Henry.

Both are decent. Or try and find a pull-out like Prom. mentioned.

$20 is what I save by not camping.  Especially with fuel as pricy as it is, that's an expense I can live without.

Easier to crash in a pullout in a big van like I've got than a truck or car though.  Sleeping on that nice flat and warm carpet is big pimpin' compared to sleeping on the ground...   :smt015

Where is everyone going to launch from?
I have launched from Stillwater but the parking sucks. Never from Ft Ross. How long of a hoof is it from parking to the water? Or from where I can unload my yak to the water? Wheels needed?
Looks like I might be in, fish and abs sounds good to me.
Ocean needs to cooperate tho.

I'll probably be in for the 22nd...

Tote... at Fort Ross you can drive your gear down to within 100 yards of the beach, unload, drive the car back up and walk back down.  The hoof back up the hill will make you breathe but it's not that bad really.  You don't have to lug your gear up the hill or anything like that.   A cart is definitely a plus for making it from the unloading area to the beach.

I'd be game for Fort Ross proper... if everyone else wants to do stillwater though,  I'd probably be in for that too.

Hey guys,

What do I need to ab dive with my yak?  Is some sort of anchor essential?  What else?  Thanks.

Henry

Thats kind of cool. Either way, you definitely need an anchor of some sort.

I probably skip the ab dive this time, since I don't want to pay for the punch card this late in the season.  I may have just this one weekend to go out for them, and the condition may not cooperate.  Thanks for the gripper info.  I also recall seeing a large heavy wire gripper for gripping bull kelp at a local dive shop.  I wonder which one is more effective.
