Capitola 7/10 weird fish

I caught a few small brown RF then what I thought had to be a decent halibut turned out to be something I have never seen around here before. It took a couple of runs for the bottom and gave me a heck of a fight. I took a pic of it and released it. I came home and googled trigger fish because it reminded me of ones you would see diving in Hawaii. A pic of a kid in the UK came up holding exact type of fish. He hit a 4" scampi tiped with squid. It was about 16" long and at least 5-7lbs

Yeah freaky looks like a trigger to me. Can you say El Nino?

Wow, that's a rare catch around here!  Maybe we can catch the Humboldt squids too    Thanks for the report and picture.

Awesome catch and some of the best ceviche around! Their skin is super tough to cut and very hard on your fillet knife.

I hope we get some Bonito and Baracuda next

Triggerfish! My brother speared one up here a few years ago. Great eating, but way out of its neighborhood.

 El Nino brings em up to San Diego but Capitola?
